Is anyone else doing The Cold Plunge, Wim Hof style?

Big Bopper
Big Bopper: Here on Vancouver Island, this therapy, practice, crazy behaviour, call it what you will, is quite popular. By that, I mean in a town of 35 000, I personally have dipped with 15 other people, know personally of another 12 and have seen another 10. That's reasonably common.

I started in February when a couple guys I know said they were doing this, and invited me along. I said, "Yeah!" In the river, where the temperature was about 4°C. Pretty chilly. We set a timer and sat, neck deep, in the water for 8 minutes. I did that 7 or 8 times then wanted to do it closer to home. I've been in the ocean 3 times this week. In Discovery Passage between Vancouver Island and Quadra Island. I thought the water would be cold, but I've soaked for 25 minutes! Today I'm bringing my mask, snorkel and flippers so if I'm solo, I'll have an easy way to pass the time.

Tell me your stories of cold water swimming.

Big Bopper: Tonight, Theresa, Candy, Jeff, Janet and I spent about a half hour in the balmy waters of Discovery Passage. There's a picture of us in my Local Scenery album

Big Bopper: I've been swimming every day. It makes me feel good. It also makes me hungry. I only paddle a bit with a mask and snorkel, but the hunger tells me that I'm burning energy. I tried a morning swim and ate all day! I'm doing evening swims to avoid this
