i want kids but im only 19. am i too young to be a father?

darkerrose: well i am 19 and have a child he was a suprise but i love him to bits. my partner was also 19 at the time so i cant really tell you not to have a child but its a lot of work looking after a baby it can put strain on your relationship and they cost so much but they are worth it! Mabey you would be better to wait but only you and your patner can make that choice. Weigh up the pros n cons x

Ruben.: It's not whether you and your partner want one or not. It's being sure that you can support a child. If you both have steady incomes, a place for the kid to sleep, a good enviroment for the child to grow up in, and love for eachother, then you'll be fine.
If you're missing one of those things, it's not gonna work out.

Sorceress Warrior: wait a couple of years kid, experince life and work at a few jobs, maybe look into college.

You need a solid income and secure footing in terms of living.

At 19 maybe look into places that offer family planning and talk to someone there, they'll sit you down and go over everything you'll need to know to make this big plan.

cinnamon: I got married at 19 had my first daughter at 20 and second daughter at 25. They are 19 and 13 now and we are planning on an empty nest soon. While we are still young we can enjoy ourselves as a couple. I dont regret having kids at a young age. Ultimately you have a decision to make.

breezy: i was 19 and had my first daughter i would wait till your older enjoy life while you can. when you have a kid at least for me my fun was over and it was all about my daughter. kids are a huge responsibility and alot of money especially taking the kid to the doctor every week when they come out. i would definalty wait enjoy life now and go have fun.

my opinion, its the most amasing years in your life. Enjoy parenting while u can, I say. Of course you can be a great father, if you are willing to support them in anything.

breezy: im not saying that its a bad thing but when you dont have absolutly any help. then its a different story. alot of people have there parents helping them but in my case i had no help not even a babysitter for a night out. so its ok if you do have a little help and your financially and physically ready then its alright i guess.

dark_26: u must be willing to sacrifice your current lifestyle and start a new one.
and there are just as many who dont have any help from the beginning.
start a parenting-lesson and get a job. Take your responsibility.
Im not saying u should give up your favorite things in life. Just priority the most important. Your child. And stop complaining! Having a child isnt the easiest thing but give them all your love and you get in return.

bbali: Breezy is absolutley right. The age you are when you become a parent does not really matter provided you can give of yourself selflessly. Parenting is a never ending job and has abundant rewards, it is also the most humbling experience I have ever had

twizzlermind1986: I was 15 when i had my 1st kid, i now have 3, my oldest is 5, i love them to death, me & my husband have all the little accessories, (house, car payment, ect ect) and it is very hard, people say " we wont let it change us" but it will, everything you do u have 2 consider how it will impact them, if you ever for some reason start dating new people, u have to worry if u can trust them, worry they r safe @ school, worry, worry, worry, but that never changes, whether u r 19 or 90, if you think u r ready, then u probably are. (ps, if u intend to go to collage, unless u r 1 of those super people, DO IT 1ST!!!!)

tinakryger: I just turned 20 last month and im having in 2weeks or less and the dad and I split up so both mi kids don't have dads.i don't regret having them sometimes I wish I waited but I love them both very much but if I were u sit down wit ur gf and really talk. its not fair to the kids if things don't work out cuz the kids dads care less if they see them and its heartbrraking not saying that would happen to u cuz I hope it wouldn't but its something to really think about.good luck
