Saffir: I just wanted to warn ppl and make them aware of the situation.pools have filters which clean the water but make no mistake chemicals added and many ppl use it self fishly.thats a general rule in any pool.i have worked in many pools.just wipe ur breasts with a clean tissue and u can breastfeed in peace.i have breastfeed my two kids for a year myself. As long as you are giving a clean breast to the baby everything is ok.I as a woman try to be concederate of my surroundings.i used baby slings in public for breastfeeding it was all good.i hope that's more breastfeeding oriented reply.

uglycow10: In the old country my mom breastfed all of us. It was very convenient.
However, unlike the eonen today who seem to be doing it to simply make a point, it was just the natural thing to do then, as now.
She was very discreet and always made sure to cover her breast and the babies' head with a huge napkin.
Some of the women today want to do it for shock value or to just make an issue oyt of something which really is not a big deal.
Stop it, you women...enough already!!!!
Discreetly breastfeed you children and stop looking for those 15 minutes!it is not a big deal!!!! B

uglycow10: TO ECHID: I look at the news stories with women being interviewed...and the stream of advocates for women's' right etc. I have seen women inconspicuously breastfeeding their babies....it's natural! NO fuss, no muss!
There are some women in the population who thrive off of creating issues and making mountains out of mole hills.! For example, insisting on joining ...a "gentleman's club" then making a big issue out of it when they were refused." The name of the club should have been the hint that women were not allowed!
They apparently viewed the concept of a men's club as being sexist & decided to make an issue out of it. Why?
Some situations really do not need to soar to the boiling point that they do.

echidnatas: I suggest you read some of the material available on the issue, the idea that "the women today who seem to be doing it to simply make a point"or "shock value"is imaginative but either not true or in extremely small numbers.I can see no connection in being excluded from a "men's club" and the rights of individuals to feed a child as nature intended,
Its time this rot stopped

wayne elliott: I agree uglycow, a perfectly natural act that should be seen as a demonstration of bonding and sustenance between a defenceless, dependant being and a responsible, loving mother rearing the future. Nothing contentious or immoral about it.

trespasser1213: That's A touchy subject today.
In the biological sense the woman's breast is of course designed to feed the baby we all know this.
Now was it meant to be anywhere at anytime including in public? probably not.

Back in the past I imagine it was once easier to avoid doing this in public.

I think our ancestors were likely more self sufficient than we are today.

Meaning they likely went to the store A lot less than we do today.

So less time in public and less chance for the mother to be seen breast feeding her baby.

Today we have to go places and we have to do more things away from home.

I think there's still women out there that get to stay at home and breast feed their baby in private but certainly not can do that.

Not today.

Aura: It is such a non-issue in the Netherlands, they used breast feeding in a water commercial to show how natural the water is. I tried to find the video to show you but I couldn't. Best I can do is a photo series showing what the commercial looked like (it's older)

The slogan says "because there is water and water" (suggesting not all water is equal)

uglycow10: As the world falls apart,this is such a non-issue !!!!
For the thinking women of the world who don't need to have a law passed to tell them whether or not it is ok to breastfeed in public...it is rather simple.
If they want to breastfeed in public...so be it! They should just do it!
If it is not their wish, then they dont have to do it
If they opt to do it in public, there are people who will stare, and some will get upset.
So be it.!
There is no need for them to gawk at something that doesn't concern them!
The bottom line is....who gives a damn ?????!?

uglycow10: In agreement "Classy"...
Gawkers need to be more respectful by not gawking, and the nursing moms need to be discreet as they suckle their young.
It should not be a case of, "Yes, ,I'm breastfeeding in public! And?????? "
,,,but then again, in society today, discretion seems to have fallen by the wayside..
