Religion (Page 9)

Zanjan
Zanjan: "it is important to reconize that no spirit can be owned, not (your) wife, husband, child"

Yes, this is a hard lesson learned by mankind. To wit: all people in the past had slaves, including members of every religion.
Only one religion *by Command of God* totally forbids slavery - ONE. Only ONE religion *by Command of God*, has ordered the emancipation of women and right to hold positions at every level that men do.

It's not that God has changed His mind; it's because there's no longer any legitimate reasons left to keep slaves.

Tatrasu 2: Zannan the creator of humanity created humans as slaves for the purpose of gold mining
what you read in your bible stems from earlier work,,sumerian kings list, sumerian tablets, epic of guilgamesh, enuma elish, code of hamurabi, acadian and norse accounts
i am more likely to believe an earlier record chiseled in stone than a book translated poorly at least three times and edited modified by valintino, marcion, constantin to profit themself
over 44 books were removed or edited and the nag hamadi found at is not all being released

Zanjan: What matters is why they continued taking slaves to modern times. Why didn't humans progress faster? This is the more important question. History is not recorded merely to answer the question "where did "X" come from?"

In ONE GENERATION, mankind achieved what those in the past didn't; we've moved forward. Yet, who is asking, "What happened?" (aside from Princess Diana's last words)

For example, today, exploiting a country for cheap labour is considered self-serving and unethical. While one can still hire cheap labour, one can't terminate a worker in order to hire cheaper; also, there's a limit to 'cheapness'. It's just a shame laws had to be enacted to enforce compliance.

Humans are changing their mentality as awareness improves. You see, the impact of new knowledge has produced a kinetic energy, which in turn causes a domino effect. What was acceptable a decade ago is not acceptable today. Thus, the belligerent keep falling.

Zanjan: I think it's fair to say that if one truly believes and worships God, they can't get nothing back from Him when they pray - no guidance, no inspiration, no answers, no movement.

When God has Willed a certain thing for our time, it will be and nobody can stop it. So, when I hear somebody say "You can't know the Will of God", I reply "Speak for yourself".

If the stars fell
If the stars fell: no one said anything about exclusion, im suggesting that you dont intentionally manipulate them into believing what you want them to believe, i seriously doubt you are sitting over there teaching your children about the merits of islam at the same time you are teaching them about how righteous your personal religious beliefs are, nice straw man though.

Zanjan: Doubt not, ITSF - before you were born, I taught my children the merits of every religion there is - that is God's Command. Of course, I had to learn those religions myself before I could teach - as suggested by He Who is the Lord of all Faiths.

I can't take personal credit - I wasn't my children's only teacher, they had many. Millions have done exactly the same thing. It's not hard, it's just time consuming. Not for the lazy and those who have issues with the word "obedience".
Fortunately, those who love God find religions interesting; they enjoy learning.

Zanjan: How very intuitive of you! I'm actually making compost in my Bokashi Composter at this very moment. Had a lot of millings left over from the apple and pear harvest. (free blurb for the company there). Just poured off some of the compost tea for the watering jugs - smells like beer - and the rest goes in the earth pit. That was the first seven days.

The next Seven days and it will be finished! Yes, that's how long it takes to make new soil, if you do it right.

What you take from the earth or heavens you have to put back. We're all borrowers.

Zanjan: Religion teaches us not to be tempted by gold. Apparently, a lot of gold was left behind....more than enough for everybody who wants to go get it. Today, gold isn't something people fight over - they fight over political issues.

God is the All-powerful and All-wise - if He wants something gone, it goes for a reason. If it's lost, it no longer had any intellectual value. Like the dinosaurs, it's not a good plan for *us* to try to bring it back. We don't know what we're dealing with - ancient tablets could be nothing more than junk mail or treatments of theater acts.

Fast forward 3000 years from now. Our forms of media wouldn't survive; we write so little on stone (stone would survive, maybe not the lettering), interpreting that would be tantamount to extracting the story of a civilization from a grave marker.

Zanjan: What we learn from history is to recognize human patterns of behaviour. We can identify short periods of justice and peace, of injustice and war - this heritage belongs to each and every country. We know the cause and effect every time.

We've learned that religion has been influential in moderating the effects, serving to adjust the balance somewhat between good and evil in society. Curiously, civilizations rose and fell frequently, only in the Eastern Hemisphere.

As we move forward along the global timeline, we see a steady increase in the frequency and scope of these situations., particularly of wars and injustice, which have spread like an infection.

History repeats but something overall is changing. The scale has widened, the noise is way louder than ever in history, and it's pervasive. There must be a crescendo. The consciousness knows intuitively that something must break. We're hearing it breaking.

Zanjan: Thinking back to the original question posed in this thread, I'm reminded of my children's religious teachers..they had many.

They went to Baha'i children's classes, where all the religions of God are taught - all of them; they're shown how all have been true, the divine virtues all of them taught, and the importance of love and unity. Religion without history is useless. The children start young..by the time they're 5, they can confidently recite prayers on their own by memory.

When classes for the age 3-5 group were done, my children's teachers would find me and say "Your children can read!" (as if I didn't know, heh). Yes..when somebody *wants* to learn, they're so easy to teach. Never get in their way.

This lesson I learned from my own childhood. When I was 4, I wanted so badly to go to school but they said no, I was too young. This was so frustrating. When I wanted to go to church instead of Sunday school, they said no, I was too young and wouldn't understand. Again, frustrating. I didn't want to sit and colour pictures or glue macaroni to paper - I wanted knowledge!! So I left and didn't return, finding my knowledge elsewhere.

I think, if I hadn't been deprived of that when I needed it (during early development), my childhood and adolescence wouldn't have been so horrid, tumultuous and painful. Never underestimate anyone's abilities or potential. Never withhold. When somebody is ready to learn, teach them, no matter their age - that's what love is.
