yippeskippy: It depends. For most part if you have to wait more than 4 or 5 months to meet up, it probably won't work. Intimacy and physical closeness is needed for any relationship to thrive. I've heard of people who made it work, but its not common. I still have yet to hear of a person who met online and stayed together for a long time.

It's better to stay friends if possible. The issue with online is that your mind creates this fantasy of a person who in actuality lives an entirely separate life than you do.

There are long periods of time you don't spend with one another. Absence does make the heart grow fonder...but in reality its because you're thinking of the good moments. Our minds naturally gravitate towards those good feelings, especially if you are lonely...you'll look for people who's word made you feel good about yourself.

It's not reality though. Online is also a playground for scammers, perverts, narcissists etc. Even more worrisome are those who are not even in the same country. Why would that person really care about you, ya know?

Pisces_3675: I do not believe in long distance relationships. I do not think it can work on the long term. Who has the patience to invest in correspondence with someone whom you can not live life and physically do things with. We evolve as people, emotions come and go. Monogamy does not exist. You can t expect someone to wait forever. We all have needs and not one person can for fill all those needs. You do not really know someone till you live with them and other factors come into play its not just feelings or good looks.
