suicide- the unforgivable sin? (Page 5)

Zanjan
Zanjan: Of course, this takes us to "assisted" suicide, which I think is the wrong word for euthanasia. I'm all for euthanasia in the case where death is immanent but only on doctor's diagnosis. I wouldn't let an animal suffer the way people have because they're afraid to help someone die gently.

Zanjan: Some people think that about prison too. Life on the outside is too hard to deal with.

There's a similarity there - the suicidal are stepping into prison, not out of it. The reality is they want all their cares and responsibilities to disappear - they think death (oblivion) is the only way to achieve that.

Truth is, we all die but there is no oblivion. The suicidal aren't thinking rationally because they have an all-consuming desire to escape the present situation. Suicide is a sin because the individual is not respecting the Wisdom of God. They think they know better.

thor1112010: The answer is no. To take life when it is not necessary is wrong. Play the game of life for as long as you can. I promise you will not regret it. Even when life is difficult, the soul can learn from it. Life is precious and should not be wasted.
