Evil And GOD Cant both Exist. (Page 4) LiptonCambell: I don't follow. It's like saying the universe is too complex to have naturally formed on its own.....but wouldn't God have to be even ore complex to have created the universe? And if so, then doesn't your stance still have the same problem- that something came from nothing- only your stance is God came from nothing, rather than the Universe.... ghostgeek: There is no imperative that God has to be good. For example, the gods of the Aztecs were a pretty bloodthirsty bunch by all accounts, as was the god of the old testament. It is possible that evil is a necessity in the world to bring about the greatest good or it may just represent the base nature of the creator god. There again, there may be no God at all. That would solve the problem of evil. TheGreyOne: ghostgeek that was the best defensive argument for the existence of god that i ever saw, god has to be evil so he can do good. Its a smart way to look at it, however it goes against christian values. I would say Christianity itself is a load of crap. If a god does exist, it wouldn't be a 10 feet man with a great white beard, it might not even be alive, it might just be a "higher power", the wheel that spins to make everything work. ghostgeek: There's only one thing you can say for certain about God. You won't know if He exists or not until you're dead. LiptonCambell: I don't think that the existence of God presupposes the existence of heaven or an afterlife...God can still exist even if you just rot in the ground after death.... ghostgeek: True enough. No reason why God, any god, should bother about the likes of us. But if you die and wake up in a pit of boiling pitch you'll know for certain that something's got it in for you. lori100: 'rot in the ground after death'..... 'No reason why God, any god, should bother about the likes of us'......and have a Merry Christmas! ..........Thankfully on my Seth and near death threads people have had great spiritual experiences with different beliefs as a result... jimeeze1: God does exist.....in a brainwashed mind....keep this in mind when talking to peeps...from birth my parents sent me to church religiously and would always tell me that god was keeping a record of all my sins and one day I would have to account for them.....was brainwashed for 36 years....it took me 2 years to deprogram myself after realizing the truth...so peeps aren't stupid or dumb.....just ignorant and scared....the truth is getting out finally because of mass communication and peeps aren't being ostricized for not belonging to the god club as much any more gojiraas: that seems to be a classic arguement girl with toungey, um, i hit that wall a lot. I think maybe its not that God doesn't erradicate evil, but because HE is Good, he has to do everything in a good manner. Like a gardener, pruning the vine or better like the vine itself atrophying its unwanted parts. It takes time. Eventually all evil will have to go. ghostgeek: It's simple. If everything came from God then He's the origin of evil. It doesn't mean God's evil, or good, just the creator of everything that exists. Evil is part of the package of creation. above us only sky: Hello! I love this song, because it says the truth. people believe in God because that belief is psychologically useful to them. God---John Lennon God is a Concept by which we measure our pain I'll say it again God is a Concept by which we measure our pain I don't believe in magic I don't believe in I-ching I don't believe in Bible I don't believe in Tarot I don't believe in Hitler I don't believe in Jesus I don't believe in Kennedy I don't believe in Buddha I don't believe in Mantra I don't believe in Gita I don't believe in Yoga I don't believe in Kings I don't believe in Elvis I don't believe in Zimmerman I don't believe in Beatles I just believe in me...and that reality The dream is over What can I say? the Dream is Over Yesterday I was the Dreamweaver But now I'm reborn I was the Walrus But now I'm John and so dear friends you'll just have to carry on The Dream is over chayim: God created righteous, and this is the point of the existence, but sin and evil he created is that you should realize whats bad so you should be totally good LiptonCambell: ....so god created murder? And children rape? And torture? All these are concepts made by god- so the good people would know they're good? chayim: No, i meant to say, he created the "concept" of evil and sin, you should realize what good is by not being bad LiptonCambell: >>>you should realize what good is by not being bad So i don't need to read the bible to be good? Score! LiptonCambell: WHY did God create the concept of evil though? Wouldn't things be better if there was no evil? LiptonCambell: So, again, pedophilia; this was created by God, to help us understand the difference between good and evil. And if that's the case, then it wouldn't be much condolence to victims of pedophilia that their rape helped them understand good and evil. chayim: No, being evil is evil, i said to "know" the concept of evil, and not to follow and to be it ghostgeek: So this is the reason for the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden? That humanity might know evil so that it would realise what good is. Some people might think we were better off not knowing either. | Philosophy Chat Room 10 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
