Winter0fDiscontent: Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven", of course!!!
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary
over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore-
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
as of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"Tis some visitor", I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door-
Only this and nothing more"

Not only for the versification but also for the meaning it implies about the urge for existentialist knowledge. I love Edgar Allan Poe, he was also the inventor of detective stories, and within them the invention of the parameters which would be used later on by almost anyone: the critic to the legal system, the mistery of a murder committed in an empty room locked from the inside, the mad dispute between insanity and sanity from an inner view, the doppelganger, zombies, and the man who feels himself alienated in the middle of a crowd with the changes produced in society by the upcoming capitalism, something later used by les poets decadentes (Rimbaud, Verlaine and Baudelaire) as the main foundations for their whole poetry.

Hail Edgar Allan, he died at the age of 40, in a rainy day, in some forgotten street of Baltimore, to many unknown, rescued from the ashes by Baudelaire and then made famous to the entire world.
(I should have made a blog out of this)Lol

Winter0fDiscontent: what do you mean by "terminally troubled"? I sense some prejudice in those words. I dont think there was something wrong with him, besides the fact of being a man of high sagacity and deep insight who had little to no recognition by his american fellows. He is known nowadays thanks to the french, like I said. Now why amI not surprised?
