Gram WineNSarcasm: Scurry down the hallway Sh ! Don't make a sound Tiptoe 'round the corner Is anyone around ? There sits Gramma in her chair Lost in all her thoughts Her eyes still closed and half asleep Her hair is all in knots ! I stare at her for just a time Deciding which to choose Will I be a Dinosaur Or a cow that moos ? Slowly creep. Now I'm close Gram don't see me there Leaping high and giggling loud I leap upon her chair ! She wakes abrupt and starts to laugh I kiss and hug her neck "You scared me so, you little mouse Look ! I'm such a wreck !" "I'm hungry, Gram, please feed me now ?" I cry so pitifully She hugs me tight and begs me "Come You'll be great help to me" Flour is poured into the bowl Milk and eggs go, too Pancakes in the making Enough for just us two Afterward we wash our hands She makes me comb my hair For I am off to school today I dress without a care As time grows short she shouts to me I run as fast as can Puts on my coat and kisses me "I love you, silly, Gram !" (Edited by WineNSarcasm) WineNSarcasm: "Thank You very much for commenting" This is a true story of me and my youngest Grandson. ConservatorErik: This reminds me so much of Evvie and I... but also of my own early days, with a very special person who acted as both substitute parent and grandparent... the love speaks through. | poems Chat Room Similar Conversations |
