Fault and Blame-The Blindfold
.
The front door slammed with a thud
She stormed out in a fiery rage
Remaining steadfast best as he could
Her words sliced hot, seared as a blade
.
Whether true or false it mattered not
His cruel words meant to blame
How could a love go from hot to cold
When stunned he was and maimed
.
Invested years and spent tears
Of a marriage such was the cost
The final blow he would soon know
Consuming grief and loss
.
Yet years flew by as cold icy winds
Chilled him endlessly to the bone
More bitter the pill to swallow
His own mistakes he could not own
.
Perhaps it was his callous ways
The endless painful words he groaned
Comparisons and all the complaints
Without acceptance ever shown
.
By happenstance he caught a glance
In the mirror there of his soul
An awakening of the inner core
Reasons for never feeling whole
.
It took forgiveness, all he had
To free the spirit wounded within
Looking back with wisdom gained
Embracing his own life again
.
Aware now of the world outside
The dark grip then released its hold
Faith and trust replaced the pride
Finally at last..removed the blindfold
