One Day I Held His Hand daisiesnfld: One Day I Held His Hand . I held his little hand one day And he followed right along Then with childish glee He'd run from me And sing his nursery songs . Then one day I noticed He'd learned to tie his shoes Dress himself although He missed a button or two There was less for me to do . And ride his bike all day Like all little boys do And build a pen outside To catch a frog or two Or build a tent and hide . He left for school one morning A bright and sunny day But was home then by noon Time slips so fast away He was gone all too soon . I hear the sound of children In the local grocery store I see them playing in the sand Childhood is not forevermore But lingers the times I held his hand . © DaisiesNfld daisiesnfld: Actually sir, I have. And a very admired and accomplished young poet/rapper he is. His chosen words..his daunting speaking...very well versed! consumertips: Excellent! I admire the way he addresses racial and social issues. However, I see a lot of economical issues that need to be addressed. When is the next time you will be on? DONUSVET: IMPRESSIVE !!! Heartfelt and stirred our memories on lost childhood ... Memories .. Sweet memories linger on.. Perhaps the loss of a boy child through the passage of time is the ONLY way to introduce a good MAN into the world ... Lost a boy .. gained a MAN DONUSVET: I had made the assumption that the "boy child " WAS GOOD" and that it carried OVER into his MANHOOD... hence, no repairing needed .. ( simply maintenance ... ) daisiesnfld: But it's THE RAISING that makes them good...the 'maintenance' falls on them. "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things." 1 Corinthians 13:11 dreadlox33: nicely done dais....this too reminded me of how the years go by and things can change so much... WineNSarcasm: Very nice, Daisies ! it's incredible how, once they reach school age, time flies SO fast ! daisiesnfld: Why ty kindly Wine, and sooo good hearing from you. I've often wondered where you might be and tried to find you. Guess no one is talking..Take care, be safe, and mask up! WineNSarcasm: Thank you, Daisies ! Nah, can't get rid of me that easily. I was just off Social Media for a bit and had some Life Changes mixed in as well. I'm careful and still working ! Maybe you'll hear something (writings) from me soon daisiesnfld: I'll look forward to that, you're one really fantastic poetress..hope you know that...take care, stay safe, and do keep me posted with your work WineNSarcasm: Thank you, Daises. I've always appreciated all your work; so much from the heart they are. Here's hoping I see everyone again SOON ! Hagbard Celine: I like this, the rhyme scheme's interesting. And you have a poet's eye for structure, the frame to hang the idea on. I'm reminded (because I think in pop songs) of 7 Years by Lukas Graham and 100 Years by Five for Fighting. You've got a deft grasp of imagery, and as a parent it's very relatable. Well done! | poems Chat Room Similar Conversations |
