'West using depleted uranium in Libya' (Page 2)

FogofWar
FogofWar: How many civilians have been dying to date in Afghanistan at the hands of mines planted by the Russians during the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan? The Soviet mines are one of the most abundant sources for IEDs to date; and the Russian army has a tendency of leaving behind its weapons instead of packing them up; letting rebel forces across the world get ahold of them and use them against civilian targets. You really think Russia is concerned for the well being of Libyans? They have their own agenda on this.

FYI, Canada does not use depleted uranium. Canada does not use ANY weapons with uranium. It is one of our fundamental principles of our military; of which I am a member. Think to yourself; what would Iran stand to gain from turning you against intervention in Libya?

First; if Libya remains in chaos; it gives Iran a chance to fuel rebel forces; and seize control of oil assets there.

It gives Iran a chance to create a buffer zone around them in the Middle East; as if the entire region is in chaos; then there is no one present to oppose them.

It gives Iran the ability to furthermore divide support of western nations on the home front, preventing political intervention in nations like Yemen (which is currently what is happening); which holds access to the only other port in the Middle East for oil production (the other is in Iran).

It further builds support for terrorists opposed to the western nations; of which Iran has admittedly funded (al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. etc.)

Ever wonder why the US went into Iraq; just take a look on a map and see what nation lies between Afghanistan and Iraq.

I think I cracked a rib laughing that hard when I seen this comment!!!

"How many civilians have been dying to date in Afghanistan at the hands of mines planted by the Russians during the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan?"

Good attempt to shift the blame!! We could talk about Vietnam and the cluster bombs that are still claiming lives today!

FogofWar: Go ahead and laugh. If you think Iran is not out to expand their dominance in the Middle East; you are a fool.

Yes, we could talk about the use of cluster bombs in Vietnam; but it is not the US that is condemning the use of any arms now is it? Russia has a history of using arms that are not civilian friendly; and a bigger history of leaving them lying around instead of taking them back to Russia. Russia is not commenting on the US' choice of weapons out of concern for Libyans; Russia is commenting on the US' choice of weapons because they want the world to loose faith with them. They have their own motive behind this; and it goes back years.
