Usama Bin Laden is Dead, Say Sources

AP

Bin Laden has been on the F.B.I.'s most-wanted list for more than 10 years, Usama bin Laden is dead.

President Obama is expected to deliver a statement from the White House Sunday night to discuss the major development.

Sources said bin Laden was killed by a U.S. bomb a week ago. The U.S. had been waiting for the results of a DNA test to confirm his identity.

The announcement comes nearly a decade after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks which started a tireless hunt for the terrorist mastermind and Al Qaeda leader.

chronology: The confirmation it is Bin Laden seems have been made. It is a major success for American Special Forces and a major blow for the enemies of the U.S.A. One can only hope Mr Bin Laden does not join Che Guevara on T Shirts around the world. (More 'alive' in death than in hiding).

Kered66: bin ladens dead so what!!! the real threats are still out there. I guess you yanks didnt notice after 9/11 there were no more attacks on us soil? The job was to get support through a "pearl harbour like" attack to rally support for bush's wars no attacks on us soil for ten years if I was a terrorist I am sure I could get a couple thousand people through mexico myself there was never a major threat to the US until rumsfeld & co came to power.

William_Chuzzlewitt: 'and the US has his body'

i heard his body was disposed of in the sea. Strange how they got rid of 'his body' almost immediately. Doesnt need explaining what this will do for Obama's rating; ratings that have been in a slump for a while now.

2012 election campaign:
"Vote for Obama, He got Osama"

Exactly Rhondaman.

He may be dead, but his ideas still live amongst the religious fanatics out there.

Get rid of the evidence? Plausible deniability. I’m shocked. We should have cut off his head and placed it on a spike on the White House fence.

Kaizoe: Excuse me, which Obama ... Osama, did they kill? The one with the broad nose, or the long nose? I think there is a third that has a lighter brown skin, but I'm not gonna sit and look at any C.I.A. operative to make any kind of point.

Some other stuff; Osama was caught back in '97, I think it was, but Clinton said to let him loose. He also got treated in an U.S. military hospital sometime during the 90's.
I also have some vague memories about Osama dying back in somewhere between '98 to 2002.
Don't quote me on any of this, as it's just stuff I can't remember fully.

ISLAMABAD - Osama bin Laden was holed up in a sprawling house just 100 yards from a Pakistani military academy when helicopters carrying U.S. anti-terror forces swooped in the early morning hours of Monday and killed him.
Flames rose Monday from the building that was the apparent target of the raid as it was confirmed that the world's most wanted fugitive died not in a cave, but in a town best known as a garrison for the Pakistani military. A U.S. official tells CBS News that one of bin Laden's sons was also killed in the raid along with at least two others, but the official did not name the son or the others killed.
The operation "doesn't bode well for our friends" the Pakistanis, one U.S. official tells CBS News national security correspondent David Martin. The official, who spoke on condition they not be named, said it would be hard for the Pakistani government to explain how such a high-profile figure could have been living in such a high-profile residence "without their knowing".
U.S. officials tell CBS that cooperation from the Pakistanis "assisted in this lead as we pursued it," but the U.S. shared no specific intelligence on the compound prior to the raid.
"We are very concerned that he was inside of Pakistan but this is something that we will work with Pakistan government about," one official tells CBS.
CBS News senior foreign affairs correspondent Lara Logan says Pakistan's government, from the U.S. standpoint, "is looking extremely vulnerable" right now; They have to explain how bin Laden managed to live, for an undetermined period of time, almost in the shadow of one of the nation's primary military training academies.
Logan reports that Pakistani army chief, Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, was at the academy just four days before the strike, telling graduating cadets their force had "broken the backbone" of militants in the country.
Pakistan has insisted in the past that bin Laden wasn't hiding in the country, a claim Logan says has been revealed as "the grand deception of Pakistan".
Pakistan's foreign office hailed the death as a breakthrough in the international campaign against militancy, and noted al Qaeda "had declared war on Pakistan" and killed thousands of Pakistani civilians and security officers.
It stressed that the operation to kill bin Laden was an American one, and did not mention any concerns that Pakistani officials may have been protecting bin Laden in some way. Domestically, the government may yet face criticism by political opponents and Islamists for allowing U.S. forces to kill bin Laden on its soil.

Yan26
Yan26: Osama bin Laden was simply a figure head for all the people ( especially in the middle east ) who hated the West. He was not the reason they hated the West. The hatred for the west was present before Osama became famous and if they dont change thier policies it will continue after him too. As long as the hatred is alive there will always be someone to replace him. The only way to defeat them is to kill the hatred.
PS: I am glad he is dead.

Kaizoe: A Newfag, where!?
Oh wait, you're talk about me! I'm not a Newfag, or an Oldfag, I just like sending people 4chan and see how they slowly go insane, or contemplate suicide.

Also: going around in the middle east shooting up stuff and condemning and congratulating everyone for every act they do is a good way to make the west look good.
Thou I shouldn't really say anything. Sweden got about a 100 soldiers around the world, and all they do is talking to people, try to look like soldiers and loitering. Their prime objective is loitering.

StuckInTheSixties: His head "on a spike on the White House fence" isn't enough. Send the head on a tour of day care centers and kindergartens around the country. And hold a nationwide raffle, the winner of which gets to have s*z with the body, after which it'll be served in a cannibal's meal to the winners of the Super Bowl. And, of course, his body should be skinned and stuffed by a taxidermist and placed in the National Cathedral praying to a Christian God.

If you're gonna get ghoulish, get ghoulish.

Figurehead? More than that.
And as satisifying it would have been to desecrate his corpse, I'm glad we dumped his ass in the ocean. At least he'll finally have a constructive purpose as fish food.
And we all remember how much fun it was for the troops when footage of Saddam's hanging/decapitation made it out into the world.
We sent in specialists to cut out a tumor, and then we tossed the tumor into the biohazard bin after taking a few samples. Good enough.

Thou I'm not surprised if people have been told by Faux News that Al-Quaida was made in the 90's to fight against American oppression and imperialism.

Ok Sixties,
Perhaps cutting his head off and placing it on the white house fence is a little timid. Drawn and quartered on a reality show would have been much better than even your suggestions.

Now that comment is just as silly as your satirical comments as well as my recent head on a spike comment. It’s the ‘idea’ that those who mess with us need to get the ‘message’ that we will not stand for their terrorism and that we will fight back with everything that is at our disposal with more resolve than them.
