Israeli Soldiers Massacre Protesters

Outbackjack
Outbackjack: Syrian authorities say at least 20 people have been killed after Israeli troops opened fire on crowds of protesters who stormed a fence at the border in the occupied Golan Heights.

Hundreds of protesters from Syria breached the ceasefire line that dates back to the Six-Day War when Israel seized the Golan Heights.

On the 44th anniversary of the war, protesters sought to cross the border in a symbolic return to the occupied land.

In the border town of Majdal Shams, Israeli soldiers used loudspeakers to warn the crowds not to approach the fence. As they did, troops opened fire.

Israeli army spokeswoman Avital Leibowitz says the soldiers had no option but to open fire.

"Despite several verbal warnings to the Syrians on the other side of the border, despite warning shots fired into the air, still we found ourselves a situation in which an angered mob from the Syrian side tried to reach the border fence between Israel and Syria," she said.

"Therefore we had to use the legitimate option of firing toward the feet in order to try and prevent any infiltrations."

Israeli authorities said 12 people were killed. Syrian state media put the death toll at 20 dead and more than 300 wounded.

Israel has been on alert for a repetition of last month's storming of Israel's frontiers with Syria and Lebanon by thousands of Palestinian protesters.

Rallying again to calls on Facebook to march to Israel, Palestinians in Syria descended from a hilltop overlooking the Druze village of Majdal Shams and reached the disputed border, which before last month had been largely tranquil for decades.

Israeli army units said they began shooting at the protesters' legs only after issuing warnings in Arabic and firing shots in the air to disperse the crowd.

Israel accuses Syria of orchestrating the protests to distract attention from its own bloody crackdown on protests against the regime of president Bashar al-Assad.

Israel's chief military spokesman, Brigadier-General Yoav Mordechai, said troops had opened fire but that he could not confirm any casualties.

He told Israeli Army Radio that if the Syrian state television death toll was correct and Israeli soldiers had succeeded in stopping protesters from breaching the fence, then, "I think that's a measured, focused and proper response."

Protesters did cut through strands of barbed wire that Israel placed in an area between the fence, which is located inside Israeli-occupied territory, and the Syria frontier designated by UN stone markers.

Protesters planted a Palestinian flag at the barrier on the rocky plateau, which Israel captured along with the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the 1967 conflict.

Hours before the violence flared, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had ordered Israeli forces to act with restraint, but with determination, to prevent any border breach.

"To my regret, today there are extremists around us trying to breach our borders, and threaten our towns and citizens. We will not allow this," Mr Netanyahu told his cabinet.

Protests were also held in Gaza and in the West Bank.

This present crisis is an opportunity to show good faith to Israel by providing defensive weapons and equipment free of charge. Body Armour to protect I.D.F. girls and boys. free gasoline for I.D.F. aircraft and vehicles, radar for Observation Posts etc. All this equipment can be provided without compromising further Palestinian security.

Surprises me how all these people who claim to support Israel are not concerned for the safety of Israeli girls and boys in the I.D.F. at the moment.

Syrian Protesters Reportedly Given Money to Take Part in Protests along Israeli Border
Published June 07, 2011

AP

June 5: Pro-Palestinian protesters run from tear gas fired by Israeli troops along the border between Israel and Syria near the village of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights.

Syrian protesters along the Israeli border were paid thousands of dollars by President Bashar Assad's regime to take part in Sunday's demonstrations where more than 20 people were killed, ynetnews.com reports.

The Reform Party of Syria said intelligence sources told them that the Syrian protesters were poverty-stricken farmers.

They were paid $1,000 for showing up to the protests and their families would be paid $10,000 if they died, according to ynetnews.com.

A Syrian government newspaper says marches to the border will continue and warns Israel the day will come when thousands of Syrians will return to their occupied villages.

Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinian and Syrian protesters Sunday, killing as many as 23 people who tried to cross into the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

The Tishreen newspaper said the march was only an "introduction," adding Syrians and Palestinians were now determined to recover their territory through resistance.

It says Israel should not be surprised when 600,000 Syrian refugees march back to their villages and farms from which their families were forcefully uprooted.

Israel should expect a march "at any time," it said.

They were paid $1,000 for showing up to the protests and their families would be paid $10,000 if they died, according to ynetnews.com.

dave3974: There are fears Syrian security forces are planning another massacre of anti-regime protesters following an army mutiny in the town of Jisr al Shughur.

Activists say elite Syrian forces are heading for the town. Turkey says it is preparing for a mass influx of refugees.

Mustafa Osso says witnesses told him that long lines of tanks and thousands of troops were on the move towards Jisr al Shughour on Wednesday.

Mr Osso, who is inside Syria, says many of the troops are from the army's 4th Division, which is commanded by President Bashar al Assad's younger brother, Maher.

The above is why syria is again raking up the usual anti israeli nonsense -the silence from the usual protesters is deafening

FogofWar: So the IDF warned them not to enter; they ignored a force of armed soldiers; who were firing warning shots; and continued to charge? And this is Israeli terrorism how? Ever think maybe if they want the land back....they can just try asking for it? I'm sure less people would die than charging at an armed force and breeching a military fence?? Just a thought.

And while we are on the subject of Palestinian people being used as a decoy; remember the 2nd infatada? The one in which Hamas was paid by Yasser Arafat himself to stage, so that Israel would have to kill countless Palestinians, and Arafat would be able to refuse Israel's peace offer without letting the world onto the fact that he didn't care for peace at all??? Or at least that's what former Hamas warriors now say.

Yah....Israeli terrorism.

When your owner allows you to drive, then you may be able to run down to the local starbucks...oh that's right, you can't by law drive or leave the house without a family member. Perhaps when you can, you can learn the truth about what is going on outside of Saudi Arabia silly girl.

By the by, have been watching those Arizona Bush Fires on T.V. News, they look nasty, let's just hope folks don't loose property as bad as California. I remember watching folks in one California Town leaving as the Town burned down. I could not believe how bad it was, fire everywhere. The California folks just went about getting in their automobiles like they was going to Wal-Mart or something, no panic at all.

Then again, I suppose you can get used to anything. A Guy who did the 'Oktoberfest' in Germany told me how he was taken aback the first time he went there. There were about 50.000 people at the Festival, about 30.000 of them drunk as you can get. It was like a disaster area with stretcher teams carrying dozens of people to hospital and groups of men stood around pissing themselves as they stood drinking. 3D Movie films playing in Open Movie theatres. I said; 'are you sure it was '3D' or was your vision just whacked'? Tens of thousands of drunken men staggered back to their tents that night. Guy told me; 'I just lay in my tent f**ked. The sky was spinning around and the ground seemed to swell like the Sea'. 'Had a good time then'? I says.

David responds: Just like your holocaust denial comments, this woman’s stupidity knows no bounds.

Regarding the fires in Arizona, dozens of homes have been destroyed, half a dozen towns have been abandoned and thousands of Arizonians have been displaced. Over 800 square miles have been torched and this fire is now the largest fire in AZ history and now has spread into New Mexico. Smoke from this fire has reached the Phoenix area. So far, only 30 percent of this fire has been contained with high winds and temperatures over 105 F. It will be 110 F by the end of the week. Close to 6000 firefighters from all over the US are currently fighting this fire.

Chrono; is this your new stick? Trying to find offensive comments from others when there isn't any? Ever been to the Arab nations in the Middle East? Is it disrespectful to women to say they are hypocritical for condemning Israel's level of freedom when their nation still stones them to death for not being escorted by a man? Perhaps you need to reread his post.

I've met 2 Saudi Arabian women, very beautiful & smart. They seem to have pretty normal lives to me. Goes shopping, traveling, finishing Uni. and whatever women do, though they're both Muslims. There are strict codes but that is their culture & religion, that doesn't mean one doesn't have an understanding of what goes on or needs to be called out like that.

If that shitty comment made you feel superior then good for you, definately lost respect from me.
