Should the US intervene to promote democracy? (Page 8) socialdistortion: Yes, they should intervene to promote Democracy but that is not why they do it. The US government have their own agenda and that is what they promote, not the concept of Democracy. For example, their involvement in the Middle East has nothing to do with Democracy, it's all about oil and oil means money and money means power and that is what it is really all about. zerostate: lol if u are a prosecuter, u will get owned by a lawyer, bcos u dont have fact evidence, that is only ur assumption,,.,,,,it is easy to make assumption,,,,it is hard to find fact with proof and evidence (Post deleted by Museo ) Museo: : I guess i can help because i'm Tunisian ( we lived a revolution months ago ) honestly , foreign intervention is never appreciated. I used to live in pro dictatorship ,my brother was arrested and tortured during the revolution we suffered .. however we refuse foreign intervention because it was a problem between tunisians and we solve it between tunisians no matter what the cost will be .... So the answer is NO !!! however it will be appreciated to just '' not support'' the dictators .. thats all we ask for . (thank you for reading and sorry , my english is not good) franklin1950: unless the us of a can commit long term in their intervention and but get in then pull out they should stay out . thier political and financial situation is far from condusive to effective influence . how many times have they become involved then pulled out leaving the indiinous people to suffer the cosequences on their own ? they should get thier own house in order . they can't [ won't ] even protect their own borders and citisens. Bumpa: Hey America, listen to Museo, he's lived through it. Unfortunately America does have a history of propping up dictators who will give special treatment to US companies in return for bribes. My own wife lived through the Marcos years in Philippines, when he was kicked out the US military stepped in to help him. Is this supporting democracy? The result of this type of interference is usually rampant corruption, poverty and terrorist rebels. | Politics Chat Room 79 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
