Aura: Azi, you should be careful with those kind of questions, because I am very tempted to answer just as I think and that might not be the vote of support you are looking for.

The truth is, based on what OCD said in this forum, I cannot make any claims about her intelligence at all. What it does tell me, she's proud and perhaps a little hot-headed. It also tells me the only reason she works any job is to get money to live from, thus the claim that everything would be 'free' is translated to 'no work' and that in turn gets translated to 'lazy hippy' And the fact that you smoke only increases this notion. In my mind, she has been brought up to think that 'being a productive member of society' must mean you hold a job with a big possibility you will not like said job, pay your taxes, do things you do not really like, so you will hold a little time over for the tings you do like and the funds to do them. This is reality to her and to suggests there might be a way for her to give her time and effort without the money at the end of the month seems to her like a waste of her time, why would she do anything without the reward? Sadly this is true for so many. That the work itself could be the reward is a bit too idealistic I guess. Very few people can claim to love what they do.

I also get that same reward from voluntering at our battered women's shelter, so again, you are correct. I'm in it for the reward.

OCD_OCD: Technology is wonderful. Machines are being used in every manufacturing plant and office all over the world. The reason automation and computerized robotics are being used is because they can replace the need for many people. Unions have priced human labor out of the market and it has become more economically feasible to have a machine perform labor than their human counterparts.

Doing something you love. It does not have to be work. It might be a hobby like Sports,martial arts, Painting,playing an instrument, cooking and the list goes on and on.

The monetary system is making them do things they don't actually enjoy. So they do it for money. And when you do something your not so fund of then you loose interest in other activities.
And don't forget people have family problems and various problems which is 70-80% connected with money. The lazy ones are the ones that are either spoiled or loose hope in everything so they are like "meh...fuck em"
So my point about the Venus Project is Machines doing all the work. So much more free time for us and thats were the free food comes in.
So when a society protects and respects its public i guarantee you their will be volunteers for every human needed work.

As for that Video its Valid i assure you. Cause as i mentioned i have been to Norway(Oslo) and there is much more were that came from.

While we're speaking about which news carries misinformation about which country, you might also consider that your news sources just might carry misinformation about the U.S.

Unlike Azmouth, who feels like he has a better understanding of the U.S. economy, its people and culture than U.S. citizens do, we at least know that we don't know all there is to know about your political and economic situation other than what we see on the news.

Comrade_: Did I comment about the US' news source? I'm stating that "news agencies" carry "news", if you want to know about a countries economy you don't check the "news" you read information from the professionals as economist or from being in Greece or speaking to Greeks. Greece's economic crisis might seem to you as a recent event or a result from being some "nanny-state" as you say but it isn't, there is more to it than that.
I've spoken to Greeks and I've followed the crisis and read the economist views, it just pisses me off sometimes that people put the blame on the greeks themselves as being lazy or as Davidk says "the take care of me for life attitude". They work the longest hours in Europe. It's best to keep silent on ignorance k.
