Collapse, the documentary about oil shortage.

Winter0fDiscontent
Winter0fDiscontent: Basically, this documentary is a claim on the upcoming shortage of oil. And yes, haven't we already heard about that? But unlike other warnings, this documentary has a very accurate and fundamented explanation of what is going on with oil nowadays and what we are to expect in the very near future. It also explains our current economic disaster, and why it is nearly impossible to change our based on oil civilization to a one that could be environmentally friendly.

At the same time it depicts quite a theory on terrorism.
I wonder if anyone else out there has seen it and what your insights on it are.

I dont care for people denying its factual evidence and probability. I'd rather know what the rest, those who are more open to consider the aspects have to say. Thanks.

Also, there is this movie related to this topic, which agrees in the consequencies of oil shortage with this documentary. (Tooth & nail 2007)

So what do you people forecast for the near future?

Comrade_: What is the name of the documentary? I want to watch it.
I did a presentation similar to this. I'd tell you what I remember and it might be hazy but the oil will run out, it said a later date in the future but I don't think you can give a specific time frame for it since demand isn't steady throughout. It's a tricky thing to extract the oil, some oil reservoires are too small that the effort to drill and extract it will cost more. I think we're lapsing too much now is the time to start getting things in order and gradually switching to an alternative energy source...but money talks and there's plenty politics behind things.
hmm is this about Islas Malvinas and its oil?

Winter0fDiscontent: NO it's not about Malvinas, but giving it a second thought, now I understand why my country is so crazy about them, and it's not a matter of nationalism, believe me. We are simply running out of oil. But so do the pirates, hence forget we will ever have them back. They have even threatened us with military equipment. Sheesh, we have a peaceful democracy here, what do those arseholes think we will do? Fire them with soy bullets? Dead cows? This only shows how very stupid and limited they are. It's quite obvious we lack the interest and the military background to go into a war, plus all our claims have been mainly protocolar and educated, something the british should remember from victorian times. Certainly pathetic.

Flyx: the transition could be gradual as prices on oil rise... but gotta remember our entire world... millions of things... all rely on oil... and it is impossible to predict when we will run out... but yes... we have done one crap ass job that could kill us all in the end... makes you smile huh

Winter0fDiscontent: Actually flyx, everything in our society is oil based. From the means of distribution of crops to be planted to the sole of your shoes. All machinery to process food, everything. So whther or not the oil apocalypse is imminent is not even a relevant issue anymore. The issue is that to save humanity from all the collateral damage from such abrupt shortage, we should redesign our entire lives, basing industry and transportation on different sources. It seems quite impossible.

Winter0fDiscontent: And Jacko, the brits exploit the oil and the fish, they even hunt our whales illegally. This goes far beyond sheep.
As for the previous war, we had a military government which was antidemocratic, propelled by USA, who initially helped them get there. The reasons were mainly economic.

Winter0fDiscontent: But this documentary is not about Malvinas /Falkland, this is about worldwide shortage of oil and the consequencies, also the reality behind 9/11 and all that jazz. Worth watching.

Paulo: About Malvinas ....Brits are sending there more War Ships just because USA told them to do that ( Malvinas perfect and only excuse) cause the real reason its that they want to put Brazil under the shoe....Brazil its getting too powerful and not opening their Economy to Usa...so they want to show who's the Master!!!!.....and once more the Brits do their work!

Paulo: The USA is planning to expand their Navy... ( in their heads since Bush Adm) ...into the South Atlantic and also to South Asia.........thats a way to show that they control all the Commercial Navigation routes( a bit like Spain and Portugal did when animals used to talk )....in Asia due to Japan and South Korea they have an excuse....but in South America thay have none ( and would be to obvious to move and keep a Fleet there....so they use their sss and the Malvinas !

Winter0fDiscontent: Sheesh Paulo, Im starting to get scared. Should we consider running to some cabin in the mountains? It seems the most sensible thing is to keep away from cities lol. Now seriously, I think we will have oil for a few years more, but the price will be more invasions and belic breakouts from which USA will mainly be the beneficiary. OK that's not forecast, that's the description of present events. Eh....
