Creationist state funded school- Should it be allowed???? (Page 5) Barbara the Jew: history in general is important! As a believing jew the history of Israel is impostant because of my faith nothing more nothing less. I guess is just as important as US history because is were i live. lavendar_star: Oh please dont mess with my thread with stupid one word posts. I am not against histoty I am against your opinion there is a difference@ntrigo (Edited by lavendar_star) ntrigonometry: No your against history, you can't bring me a history that is better than that of Israel, a more complete history, you just can't, maybe china but guess what (china is not a single country for the most of its history, China is a war torn country that is almost always fragmented for decades and centuries with no real power to control it or it's people sometimes but mostly not at all.) ntrigonometry: And you can not bring forth a more Important to the History of the World than that of Christ, so when you go to History if you leave out the question of Golgotha you do a disservice to any who want a true recording of History YOU JUST CAN'T Barbara the Jew: what does this have to with the subject of evolution or a goverment founded cretionist school? lavendar_star: I have no clue what your on about!!!!! and you have no clue about China either. Stick to the thread topic if you can!!!!! ntigo (Edited by lavendar_star) ntrigonometry: Hmmm You are putting God in the wrong class, where you want Him in Science (Where God never intended to be) You are supposed to be putting God in History (Where He intended to be all along) Barbara the Jew: Even if you put Christ in history , he has only been around for the last 2 thousand years. So your point is not valid, again I ask what does this have to do with this thread? lavendar_star: OK, well I get you but that aint going to happen and in the UK we wouldn't do that as we are a secular country and there is not concrete proof of God's existence either unlike other figures of history. CoIin: If teaching Creationism in schools helps to produce more open-minded thinkers like Ntrig, then I'm all for it CoIin: The question of whether or not Creationism or Evolution or anything else gets taught in the science classroom hinges on whether or not it is "science", not on whether or not it is "true". Newtonian physics is still taught in science classrooms, even though it is known to be untrue. Barbara the Jew: but Newtons physics is part of historical science how you got to where you are know in science is important part of science. (Edited by Barbara the Jew) CoIin: Sure. Engineers learn from studying bridges that fall down as well as from studying those that stand up. Barbara the Jew: I was thinking more in the lines of learning simple systems before moving on to more complex systems... Just because we learn that teh moon revolves arround the earth before we learn about the orbits of the planets on the solar system, does not mean that the geocentric, or heliocentric models are the absolute truth... but it also does not disqualify those models as a method of explaining not only how the world arround us works, but, more importantly, how we have come to our current understanding of that world arround us (of which we still don't have the complete model of understanding) CoIin: Well, you might also argue that Newton's physics were a simplification of what had come before. Newton was able to encapsulate in a few equations varied and apparently unrelated phenomena such as Kepler's laws, Galileo's work, tides, comets, etc The trend in science is to afford ever-greater generalization and unification. This is exemplified by the quest for the Grand Unified Theory (or whatever it's called) Einstein's relativity is actually something of an exception to the rule. It appears to be much more complex than Newton's simple equations. lavendar_star: Good point also too Barbie but also science books are not cheap so maybe some schools have not undated their curriculum and/or science teaching materials in regarding still teaching Newton's physics. I guess it depends how its taught if its taught how Barbie explains or if its explain as current understanding of physics. I also imagine this would be more relevant for secondary/high school then university which would be obviously have a more relevant and up to date understand and teaching of science. ntrigonometry: You want the answer to your Question, well I can only tell you an American Answer :: This country for the people, by the people and of the people must and will do for THE PEOPLE what THE PEOPLE WILL AND WANT else this country is doomed to fall apart under the boot of the all knowing government. StuckInTheSixties: With taxpayers having to fund school textbooks that teach that the Loch Ness monster exists, and that that therefore proves that evolution doesn't ... ... well .. you have a point. ntrigonometry: It is our monies, if we want to teach this or that, ONE THEY ARE OUR CHILDREN AND TWO IT IS OUR MONIES | Politics Chat Room 85 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
