New (global) poll puts Obama at 50%, Romney 9%, None of the above 41% Sarcastic Dots: THIS IS NOT A TOPIC WHERE YOU LEAVE ONE LINE SNOOTY REMARKS LIKE "LULZ THESE PEOPLE CAN'T VOTE". THIS IS A POLL ABOUT WHAT OTHER NATIONS THINK, NOT FOR YOU TO POST ONE LINE RESPONSES THAT ADD NOTHING TO THE CONVERSATION. A couple of interesting things. -It seems key European allies overwhelmingly favour Obama. -Kenya, weirdly, still favours Obama, but it has the greatest amount of support for Romney on the list. -Perhaps strangest of all is that Pakistan is the only nation on the list that favours Romney over Obama. Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-20008687 (Edited by Sarcastic Dots) Sarcastic Dots: But Pakistan does? I mean, I'm pretty sure America's alliance is far closer with the United Kingdom than Pakistan - they share and jump between each others intelligence agencies daily. The only omition I'd like to see is Israel, and it's a shame it's not on the polling list. (Edited by Sarcastic Dots) Whimsical Fairy: Of those 21 countries, only 21 thousand something were polled. I'm curious what percentage that is? 1% of the total populace of those countries? 10%, 20% OCD_OCD: The same, of course. if your livelihood depends on being given the opportunity to have a job to support yourself and your family, or your livelihood depends on entitlements, then you vote according to your own self interest. davidk14: . I get concerned when a news agency tilted to the left (BBC) does an opinion poll of 21 countries and only uses 1000 people per country. The article does not state what the demographics were. How many socialists and communists were used in the polling? What was the age groups? Sex? Religious affiliations? . . Comrade_: Good spin, OCD. That's the nature of opinion polls, Davidk...not every individual gets an interview... I don't see it as a surprise that the majority of persons outside of the US prefer Obama, even on wire you'd noticed that trend. OCD_OCD: That could be because they don't live, work and are not in business here. obama is a likeable guy, just not a good leader. Sarcastic Dots: In terms of foreign policy, it is very important how other countries view your leader - although, being a good diplomat doesn't mean a person is a good leader. Churchill is often revered as a fantastic wartime leader, but as a domestic politician he was largely considered to be awful. tnhandyman: I sit here in awe over the stupidity of the republicans...if a party could shoot itself more in the foot its them. I watched in humor yesterday when Romney backed off his backing of a local republican and just wondered to myself: "If this was your friend and co-worker would you distance yourself because he made a mis statement?" At first I thought it was an OK move but the more I thought about it I was discouraged at Romney and his lack of back bone. Why vote for someone who does not stand? I'm in the 41% bracket for this election. The guy obviously worded his statement poorly. He said so. Romney...I'm one of the 47%. Now this statement was said behind the scenes and in a 'closed' meeting. Much different and a shift from his public persona. I beleave when Kennedy said there were people out there wanting to enslave the American public he was talking about people like Romney. (Post deleted by southern77 ) OCD_OCD: Socialism is economically inefficient as it does not reward entrepreneurs. Instead of rewarding entrepreneurs for creating wealth, it punishes them by making them pay higher taxes. Socialism can actually lower the living standards of all by not rewarding work and by making public assistance available to more than the neediest. http://bizfinance.about.com/od/smallbusinessissues/qt/CapvsSoc.htm lavendar_star: I am not surprised by the poll I am not bothered by either n dont favour any of the two, even though I would be concerned for my fellow women in America considering some of the Republicans views towards abortion and rape. Also I keep wondering if Romney is wearing those special masonic super underwear that Mormans wear and if he really believes that God is alien from another plant. Actually OCD they have good standards of living in the Scandinavian countries and they are the nearest thing to socialist countries in Europe. BTW The whole of the Western world are first world countries. (Edited by lavendar_star) (Post deleted by southern77 ) lavendar_star: It's a worldwide supported Fact, not a opinion n not a belief but a fact. all Western European countries, Canada, Australia, NZ and now China are first world countries alongside America. I think this is why people outside America have more support towards Democrats then Republicans. (Post deleted by southern77 ) lavendar_star: Very true @Veronica. I imagine Romney would probably continue with it if he is elected just like Obama picked up from where Bush left off. You got to get them terrorists even if innocent people are killed.!!!!!! | Politics Chat Room 18 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
