davesdatahut: If there are back-alley abortionists, then by all means do whatever is necessary to shut them down and prosecute them fully. But I ask more about the legitimate abortion providers - recognized medical clinics where abortions are provided. Are there lots of them in Texas providing unsound medical services?

near50ohoh: no they don't deep. they lack the neurological capacity to empathize. they just get better at hiding it. at faking it. or swaying their audience and victims with their charm. even sociopaths understand all along how to use what they have to get what they want.

davesdatahut: Deep, we are getting way off the track, but I'm curious as to whether you think capital punishment is a good thing or not. I think it's utterly unacceptable (I also think life in prison is a worse punishment, but at least it keeps the government out of the business of homicide). If murder is wrong, then don't compound it with another killing. (And it's an utterly illogical argument to say the punishment fits the crime because we don't do the same thing for any other crime. If we did, then the punishment for raping someone would be to get raped....and then you walk free. Also unacceptable.)
I am no fan of abortion either, but I can accept it because there are cases whether a woman should not have a child and should not be forced to carry it to term. A woman should have the right to decide whether to have a child, regardless of what anyone thinks about whether she was a fool to get pregnant in the first place. It's no one else's business. Certainly not the government's. Smarter minds than mine have decided when a fetus is viable and I accept that.

Two states prohibit the use of state funds for abortion except when the woman's life is endangered (MS, SD). These states refuse to comply with a federal law requiring states to provide Medicaid funding for abortion in cases of life endangerment, rape or incest. Twenty-nine states fund abortion in cases of threat to life, rape or incest (AL, AZ, AR, CO, DE, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MI, MO, NE, NV, NH, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, WY). Three states fund abortion in cases of a threat to the woman's life, rape, incest as well as certain other health reasons (NM, VA, WI). Sixteen states and the District of Columbia fund in all or most circumstances (AK, CA, CT, DC, HI, ID, IL, MD, MA, MN, MT, NJ, NY, OR, VT, WA, WV)."

You will note that Texas already provides funds for abortions when the mothers life is threatened, rape, or incest.
