Here is what Bush did not do.

"...An al-Qaida splinter group that has seized a huge chunk of northern Iraq commands as many as 10,000 fighters and has steadily been consolidating its hold on much of northeastern Syria across the border."

This AP article says it all.

Duncan, you need not pretend..you are mad.

Oh...Since we left Iraq a wee bit early, of course after telling them the date we were leaving....

"...Al Qaeda-aligned Sunni militants were advancing south and threatening to move on Baghdad on Thursday after overrunning the northern Iraq cities of Mosul and Tikrit -- with Iraqi government forces in rapid retreat."

"...Military analysts are urging the administration to quickly piece together a gameplan, but warn that advances made by the militant Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) are confirming their "worst fears" about what would happen in the wake of the Obama-ordered U.S. troop withdrawal in 2011."

And how many civilians have been murdered by Al Qaeda during this advance? Thousands. And not a word for you morons. Great. And more will be slaughtered.

When the bodies start stacking up....don't blame Bush.

Blame Obama. Your local community organizer. The same guy with terrorist connections.

Deflection, that's all you have to say regarding my last two posts.

Well gents, it is happening faster than you think. The US is evacuating as I type.

"...We need places to land, we need safe and secure airfields," one source said, noting that the militants are "seizing airfields and they have surface-to-air missiles, which very clearly threatens our pilots and planes if we do go into evacuation mode...A senior U.S. official confirmed that Americans were being evacuated from a base in Balad, which had been one of the largest training missions in Iraq. The three planeloads of Americans are mostly contractors and civilians."

The attacks by Al Qaeda will begin shortly on Baghdad. The US will not put any boots on the ground however air support was possible.

Iraq may fall into Al Qaeda's hands within a very, very short period of time.

Thanks again current US administration. You should all loose your jobs.

chronology: Hate to say so, but it is beginning to look like the fall of Vietnam and Iran again. In both countries, when militants took over cities, thousands of people were savagely executed, In Iran lamp posts were decorated with lynched people on every street.

Again, hate to sound pessimistic, but Air Strikes do little to fend off the incoming aggressors, never worked in Vietnam as B52s pounded their access roads, or Iran where Gunships strafed mobs who were slaughtering people.

Wonder how the Anti War crowd will react to all this? amazing how they never utter a word about the innocent people being killed or buildings being destroyed.

davesdatahut: Bush got us into the Iraqi mess, which is now blowing up. Started on a wholly false premise, this stunningly foolish war left us in the worst position an invading power can be: a place where we couldn't stay, and couldn't leave. We couldn't stay because the Iraqis didn't want us there and we were spending multi-billions on the effort. We couldn't leave because the place was a civil war waiting to happen.
What now?

chronology: davesdatahut with respect, you are belittling the sacrifices of American women and men who gave their lives in a war the Pentagon tried to give Iraq a chance of returning to the International community as a dignified upstanding country the Iraqi people could be proud of.

I again ask 'where are the Anti War demonstrators and why are they not protesting this violence against the Iraqi people by thugs and rebels'?

I remember the mass air lift out of Iran, it was a sad sad day for the people of Iran left behind. Let us all hope that, for the sake of the Iraqi people, some kind of open contact and cooperation can be maintained between Washington and Baghdad.

davesdatahut: Au contraire, chron. I have enormous respect for the sacrifices the soldiers made. They are among the victims in this as well. I only wish they had been sent out to sacrifice in the name of a cause that wasn't built on a lie and was almost guaranteed to result in a mess.

I disagree. The Iraqi people were overjoyed that Saddam was gone. The hours and hours of video show that in every city, they were happy to see Saddam gone. The rape rooms...gone. The mass murders by Saddam....gone. The use of Weapons of Mass Destruction that Saddam used on his own people...gone.

Um...where did they go? It is fact that Saddam used WMD on his people. Where did these WMD go??? Did they just evaporate?? Did aliens beam them up?

No. Saddam had plenty of time to bury them and to move WMD to Syria. So that is why no 'major' supplies of WMD were found.

Now...what I do admit went wrong...when we brought down Saddam and also got rid of his sadistic murdering asswipe sons, we did not do anywhere a good job in stabilizing that country. We disbanded the military, disbanded the police and left a huge vacuum. Our brave combat soldiers were not trained to do police work nor did they speak the language or understand their culture.

That was the issue.

We did not do a good job once we won. If we had, dave, you would not be bitching. Things did became rough, we did the surge thing which worked, but Obama pulled out way to early and did not allow the government to stabilize.

Hell, we still have troops in Japan and Germany 70 years after hostilities ended. Why not leave troops in Iraq for a few years. Yes I realize the challenges in doing this. But now, the terrorists are winning and we should be embarrassed that once again, we did not have a formal Declaration of War. Things would have been different. (Ditto Afghanistan)

I have stated before...If it is so damned important to put military personnel on the ground that need to be continuously resupplied, we need to have a Declaration of War. I understand a SEAL operation type of scenario, however, I am tired of not coming out on top.

And if you even bring in the UN...I will puke. They are so corrupt.

American Pilots were in the Sky over Iraq every day of the week protecting people from being Nerve Gassed. They would still be there now, and probably for ever had Mr Bush not ended that insane situation.
