Poland distances itself from Cameron.

"Prime Minister Ewz Kopacz stated in a phone call to the British PM on Thursday that Poland will not agree to any changes which will undermine the EU single market....

.... However, Ms Kopacz made her stance clear in the phone call. “The Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz stressed that freedom of movement for people is one of the fundamental pillars of the European Union single market and that it brings benefits for all citizens of the European economy. Therefore it should not be changes,” announced the Government Information Centre (CIR) in an official statement shortly after the telephone exchange. Ms Kopacz was also keen “to highlight the positive impact of Polish migration to the UK economy”, states TVN." NewPolandExpress

The Belfast Telegraph and Thenews.pl have both reported on the Gay major elected in Poland.

Bearing in mind that he is not the first Polish Gay Major and that under the Soviet regime much of Poland was controlled by gays especially the Secret Services it seems to be a dig at elected Majors.

NPE and Thenews.pl push the gay Major story because Camerons economics are corrupt and gays across Britain are becoming fearful of the changes.

With Camerons history with the IRA he is not expected to want to improve the situation.

In fact he is trying to recreate the state of mind that caused the IRA amongst people in the UK and his attacks on other nationals are an example of his ideas.

The hesitancy in the Polish newspapers about Mr Camerons visit to the Nazi death camps and TVNs reports might be due to the number of ' supernatural ' incidents that have already occurred there.

The implication is that Mr Camerons visit is the conversion to something that is almost ready for human consumption of something that in its undisguised form is unacceptable.

Clearly from the style of the reports it is no longer a 'secret'. Nor are the questions and suspicions about TVN.

"Polish interior minister apologises for arrest of journalists"

"Polish Interior Minister Teresa Piotrowska apologised for the arrest of journalists covering illegal occupation of the State Election Commission (PKW) on the 20th of November."

"Addressing a parliamentary committee, Piotrowska said the journalist arrest “should not have taken place when it did and never should again”. She denied, however, that the arrest was a “form of repression” of the free media, as the wording suggests an order from above. No such order was issued, she said."

The special sitting of the parliamentary culture committee on the issue was called at the request of MPs from the conservative opposition party, Law and Justice (PiS). The MPs described the incident as unprecedented in the 25 years since the end of Communism.

The chief of police also expressed his regret over the incident. It took place during a demonstration against alleged irregularities during the local-government elections, which turned into an illegal occupation of the election commission building. Journalists, one each from the Polish Press Agency (PAP) and TV Republika, a right-wing station, were present on site and were detained.

According to Iwona Slesinska-Karasinska, the parliamentary culture committee chairperson, the problem with the police conduct was not that the reporters were detained and led out of the building, but that they were then held for a prolonged period. (an) " www.thenews.pl

Arrest and detention in Poland is a slightly different state of affairs then in other countries and the ministers apology should be seen as an attempt to reassure people.

Again the implication is Cameron had a hand in it, and his Workfare is a form of detention as there is no real signs of jobs so the unemployed are just being detained for over forty hours each week.

"The u.s. Senate discussed a 6000 pages report-of which only 524 were disqualified-about a subject that deserves the greatest attention from around the world."

"WORLD BANKOLES NEED TO SAVE MORE"

"It is important for Poles to save, as this not only guarantees them a better future, but also helps the country maintain a healthy economic growth says the World Bank.

An extra 10 percent in savings is needed to mantain current pension levels.

Economists have long warned that the pension of Poles aged between 30 and 50 will be significantly lower than that of the previous generation.

“As the country ages and productivity growth begins to wane, Poland will face a number of economic challenges. At the macro level saving will need to increase from below 18 percent of GDP to about 23 percent of GDP in 2030 including to finance increased investment, while currently working individuals will have to save about 10 percent of their annual earnings to guarantee current replacement rate,” a recent World Bank report reads. (rg) www.thenews.pl

"It was quite a weird move [over Christmas] from around EUR/PLN 4.30 to 4.40, but now it is going back to normal quite swiftly," Bank BPH FX dealer Marek Cherubin told PAP Polish news agency. "There was no reason for the exchange rate to soar like that and now, when liquidity and Polish players are back, we should not have such high levels."

Catholic church in Poland rejects ratification convention to combat and prevent violence against women.

"The Roman Catholic Church in Poland appeals to the Senate to reject ratification of the Council of Europe convention to combat and prevent violence against women, Bishop Artur Miziński wrote in an open letter on Tuesday.

Writing in the name of the Polish episcopate, or the conference of bishops, Miziński said the convention fails to combat violence and instead imposes an ideological revolution.

The convention lays the blame for domestic violence at the door of tradition and culture, instead of individual human weakness or error, the bishop writes on the eve of the senate debate on the ratification." - See more at: http://www.thenews.pl/

"Approximately 300 protesters gathered in the town’s centre - located just 23 km from Warsaw - and trouble soon broke out with a number of people throwing stones, firecrackers and other missiles. At least one officer was hit in the face with a flying bottle, reports TVN24. In addition to this, a further five were also injured.

“The trouble began when a group of several dozen thugs and hooligans, who were separate from the rest of the protesters, began looking for a fight with those in charge,” Mariusz Mrozek, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police, told reporters. “A gang of aggressive people then started coming towards the police cars and we had to take steps to restore order.”

The protests were sparked by the death on Monday March 10, of a local teenage boy. Initial reports state that 19-year-old Rafal died as a result of choking on a bag of drugs - most likely marijuana. Rafal’s parents however have accused the police of contributing to their son’s death and have questioned their actions. “Why was this policeman holding his throat? So he could not swallow? It was not until he saw that something was going on that he began to try and resuscitate him,” Justyna Krasicka, the boy’s mother has since stated." NewPolandExpress

"Poland marks 25 years since lifting of censorship
On 11 April 1990 a parliamentary bill disbanded the Central Office for the Control of the Press, Publications and Spectacles, one of the most powerful authorities in communist Poland.

With the closure of the office came the end of censorship in Poland. Up until then, all forms of public communication were controlled, including press announcements such as obituaries, as well as posters.
“In the Polish People’s Republic there was an Orwellian ‘two-track’ system: the Constitution guaranteed freedom of speech, but in fact there was a system of total, preventative and repressive censorship,” head of the National Broadcasting Council Jan Dworak told Polish Radio.
Any fact or piece of information reaching public opinion would first have to be scanned by the censors, Dworak informed, although added that there were other offices which dealt with radio jamming and the screening of private correspondence.
A square in Warsaw by Mysia street, which used to house the Central Office for the Control of the Press, Publications and Spectacles, has been named the ‘Square of Free Speech’ to commemorate the censors under communism. (jb)"Thenews.pl
