ghostgeek: As for heroin, is it only spaced-out white boys who feel a craving for it?

Though the reports of the men's addiction have yet to be verified, the scourge of drug addiction is quickly growing across Afghanistan as newer drugs enter local markets from Iran, Pakistan and Tajikistan.

Washington alone has so far spent more than $8.62bn on counter-narcotics efforts but there are currently at least 3.6 million people addicted to drugs in the South Asian nation.

Over the decade, the problem of drug addiction has spread far beyond heroin.

In the cities of Kabul, Kunduz and Jalalabad, mysterious multicoloured pills, adorned with the logos of international brands like Louis Vuitton, Kenzo, Coca-Cola and Red Bull, have enjoyed massive popularity among the nation’s urban youth population.

ghostgeek: If you're planning to go to Vietnam for your hols, here's something to keep in mind:

A new report has found an alarmingly high rate of coronaviruses in wildlife about to be served at restaurants in Vietnam.

While the country is looking to stop importing imperiled animals to eat, it has yet to do so, and there are still “wildlife restaurants” that have rats, bats, civet cats, snakes, bear, monkeys and pangolins on the menu.

In a study that appears in the pre-print journal bioRxiv, researchers found 56 percent of wild rats were infected with a coronavirus by the time they were ready to be served at restaurants — double from when the animals were first caught.

Coronavirus detection rates in rodent populations sampled in their “natural” habitat were around 0 to 2 percent, jumping to 21 percent by the time they had been caught by traffickers. Due to confinement conditions, by the time the animals hit “wet” markets, they had a 32 percent contamination rate before rising even higher at restaurants, where they are killed and immediately served to diners.

Asiababe: I live for 20 years in war zone, Muslims invade my country and murder Christians, bombs, guns knives. They are lazy and thieves, also treat women very bad. Now they have brought ISIS into Mindanao so many more murders and kidnaps. My own sister was kidnapped and we have to borrow $10,000 to get her free, pay to muslim police who kidnap her. If we don't her throat will be cut.
Now I see muslims come to my new country, NZ and they want welfare, free house, free hospitals but don't want jobs unless for their wives.
I hate how muslim men spit at me in shops and streets just because I wear jeans and t shirt, feel unsafe like they thinking to rape me. I am too afraid to go swimming in a pool because they will be there so we swim in the river which is nicer anyway

ghostgeek: Seeing as it was a Christian Cathedral before the Turks grabbed it, the Greeks may have a point. In this touchy-feely new world order that we're supposed to be inhabiting, I would have expected the Muslims to have handed it back by now.

ghostgeek: Aren't we supposed to be living in a world where we seek forgiveness for the sins of our ancestors? Seeing as any number of people around the globe are asking for the return of their sacred treasures, handing a sanctified Christian building back should be top of any Muslim's to-do list.

Zanjan: Forgiveness, sure; we already did that but, honestly, that's like saying hand back the Holy Land to the Christians. They lost it for good reason. The Muslims only had it for a time too - all things pass. To resist is futile.

These are just material things. As it's written in scripture, "today it's yours, tomorrow it will belong to someone else".
