Why can't Muslims Take Criticism? (Page 3)

ghostgeek: We are repeatedly told by Muslims that Islam is a religion of peace. Understandable that they would do this, considering how much violence is being perpetrated, right now, in its name. Being accused of being a follower of the religion of murder must get a little wearisome after a time. So should we believe them? Maybe it's time to take a peek inside the Quran.

Verse 9:29 ( Shakir ): Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

From my reading of that verse, it suggests Muslims have the right to subjugate anyone who doesn't believe in the teachings of Muhammad, by force if necessary. Not exactly a pacifist stance.

ghostgeek: Old Muhammad was illiterate, as were most Arabs at that time. He listerned to the Jews and Christians talk, and formed his new religion by combining what he remembered hearing with traditional Arabian beliefs. Then he played his masterstroke. He claimed that it were the older beliefs that were corrupted, not his, and he was preaching the truth. There's lies, damned lies, and religion.

ghostgeek: What really got Islam off to a flying start was the promise of plunder. Invading other peoples' lands and taking anything that could be nicked. Stealing was an Arabian sport, so when the Caliphs needed a wheeze to preserve Islamic unity, it didn't take them long to set the camels rolling over the border. That was fourteen hundred years ago, and still they keep coming, intent as always with what they can lay their mitts on.

ghostgeek: One needs to be careful what one says:

British police have promised not to tolerate any speech that could cause offense on social media regarding Syrian migrants, after arresting a man for Facebook comments made about recent arrivals on his small Scottish Island.

The tiny Isle of Bute in the Firth of Clyde, which had a total population of just 6,498 in 2011, is expected to take in around 1,000 Syrian migrants, with 12 families already arriving since December last year (picture above).

However, commenting on the comparatively huge and sudden influx of Muslim immigrants online just became a very risky business for local residents.

Police have confirmed they have arrested a 41-year-old local man under the Communications Act, after receiving a report of a supposedly “offensive” comment made on Facebook regarding the migrants.

A police spokesman was unequivocal, that any harsh criticism of the Muslim influx would not be “tolerated”.

ghostgeek: Even in the Muslim world they've had enough of Muslim fanaticism :

Days after Ukip reignited calls for a ban on the burka in Britain, Egypt has now moved closer to banning the veil.

The full-face veil has long been associated with followers of Islam and typically covers all of the wearer’s face other than their eyes.

Egypt, a predominately Muslim country, has placed several restrictions in recent years on wearing the niqab following a sharp rise in those wearing the full veil in the last decade.

The ban would apply in public places and government buildings.

Leading politicians argued the full-face veil is neither an Islamic tradition, nor required in the Koran.

Member of Parliament Amna Nosseir, also a member of Egypt's Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, revealed the niqab is instead a Jewish tradition.

She insisted "the niqab is not an Islamic duty" and instead was "a part of Judaism".

She has argued that it is a tradition which appeared in the Arabian Peninsula prior to Islam and that a variety of Koran passages contradict its use.

Dr Nosseir added that while the Koran calls for modest clothing and for women to cover their hair, the holy book does not ask for women to cover their faces.
