ghostgeek: We in the West are too soft. Behaviour that would see a radical Islamist in deep trouble in his homeland has for too long been ignored by governments in the West. The tide is turning, but much harm has been done by this laissez faire attitude.

ghostgeek: There is a war going on in Islam, and we in the West are suffering because of it. This war is not between Sunni and Shia, their conflict is nearly as old as Islam itself, but between traditional Islam and those Muslims who favour adopting Western values.

ghostgeek: The Islamists hate us in the West because we've shown the world that religion is not the answer to humanities many problems. That undermines the traditionalists' power, both within the family, and society as a whole, something they cannot abide. Thus they make war on us, while simultaneously claiming that it is we that are making war on them.

I K R: n if you try to bring up all the violence that the koran instructs muslims to carry out against non muslims they (moderates-whatever that means) will try and argue WE have interpreted it wrong. But WE are not the people who need to be told this.....when will they try telling the muslims doing all the violence that they are wrong?....or are they just willing to let them carry on killing innocent people??

ghostgeek: It could be argued that we in the West have been, for the best of intentions, our own worst enemy. In Afghanistan, when the Russians invaded in support of a socialist coup, the West aided the Mujahideen. Did that help us? No, it just made sure that Osama bin Laden had a lair from which to launch his attacks on the West. Talk about a lack of gratitude; the bastards couldn't wait to bite the hand that helped them.

ghostgeek: Most people in Iraq hated Saddam, yet how much gratitude do the bastards there show to the West for helping get rid of him? Precious little. Yet when they get into difficulties, who has to go traipsing back there to help dig them out of the shit?

I'm wondering how much Western taxpayers money has been spent on all the bombs that have been dropped on that sorry piece of reale state?

ghostgeek: Now the West is getting dragged into Syria, with unforeseeable results. What happens when the Russian backed Syrian government tries to win back control of areas under the sway of Western supported rebels? Have our politicians got a cunning plan to deal with the eventuality, or are they hoping something will turn up?

ghostgeek: I've just found something from April:

The Home Office today hit out at a court ruling that has blocked Britain from deporting six terror suspects to Algeria, saying it was “extremely disappointed” and that it would “continue to seek to remove those who wish to do harm to our country”.

A spokeswoman for Theresa May’s department added that an appeal against yesterday’s judgement was now being “actively considered”.

She was responding to a decision by three judges in the Special Immigration Appeals Commission who ruled it would be unlawful to deport six Algerians because there was a “real risk” they would be tortured on their return.

The ruling was revealed yesterday by the Bureau, which monitors cases in Siac as part of an investigation into counter-terrorism policy.

The judges said the men merited Britain’s protection under Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, and added that assurances given by Algeria on torture were not effective.

Algeria is a country wracked by Islamic terrorism, so much so that the UK government has issued this warning:

There is a high threat from terrorism in Algeria. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by foreigners. You should take great care at all times.

Yet here we are, for the best of intentions, actively hindering the fight against terrorism in that country, and by so doing putting ourselves in harm's way.

ghostgeek: I see Donald Trump is being blamed for creating a climate of Islamophobia after an Iman and his assistant were shot dead in New York recently. Seems these Muslims aren't prepared to entertain the notion that Islamic terrorism could be fuelling that self same Islamophobia instead.

ghostgeek: According to the paper, British Muslims condemned the BBC last night for giving Anjem Choudary a platform to spread his vile ideology.

Miqdaad Versi, assistant seretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, said the corporation had given him a "loudspeaker" even when he was barred from mosques.

So there you are, it's all the BBCs fault. Well, that still leaves the question of who was listening to Choudary all these years.

chronology
chronology: I don't know ghost, I think you have just 'gone off on one' here with Islamic people. Personally I think their beliefs are as insane as most religious belief's but hey, people can believe what they like. Fine by me.

They used to say all the same things about the catholic Irish reviling them as 'thick as two short planks, breed like vermin, haters of Britain, the only good one is a dead one' and on and on. Few people would say anything like that today thanks to Civil Rights Laws. To be fare the Irish were not exactly great admirers of Britain. Remember one Irish Guy who converted to Islam seeing it as the only religion that was not 'rotten to the core' . I say 'Irish' despite him being born in Glasgow. A fellow Scotsman asked him how he could possibly call himself 'Irish' when he was born in Scotland he raved back 'because my mother comes from Ireland you idiot. I am not Scottish, I despise Scotland, I spit on the Scottish Flag' . He was a real character, anyhow, if it was not the Muslims being kicked about it would be the Irish.

Most of the Muslims I've met seem decent enough folks, they seem to draw a sense of community and reassurance from their religion.

ghostgeek: Chronology, I'm not overly concerned with what people believe, only what those beliefs might encourage them to do. Take a look at this video, where a clearly intelligent and learned Muslim cleric is telling the truth. He's laying it out as it's written in the Qur'an. Have enough people like him in a country and it's goodby to liberal cant:

ghostgeek: Compare the cleric's words with this verse out of the Qur'an:

9:29 - Fight against such of those to whom the scriptures were given as believe in neither God nor the last day, who do not forbid what God and His apostle have forbidden, and do not embrace the true Faith, until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued.

[ Penguin Classics ]

If you are a Jew or a Christian, you must either convert to Islam, pay a tax, or die. If you are not a Muslim, Jew, or a Christian, you must either convert to Islam, or die.

It's in the holy book, so a Muslim has to accept it. And by the sound of it, they do.
