Donna Plowman, who chairs the Wick Gala Committee, said: "Police approached us on Monday as they were making inquiries into certain participants after receiving concerns about people dressing up as Golliwogs and the Jackson Five. "On the night in question, none of the organisers saw these participants as we were busy elsewhere running the float parade. "We will have to discuss what has happened as a committee to see how we can go forward from this." A picture shows three youngsters two boys and one girl all with black curly wigs, and black faces with white around their eyes. Theyre all wearing distinctive red, blue, white and black costumes. • 'Racist Golly' stamp was supposed to be message of goodwill The police probe centres on participants who were dressed up as Gollys and the Jackson Five during the traditional parade of decorated floats and foot collectors through the centre of the town on Saturday. Officers contacted the local newspaper, the Caithness Courier, which was unable to help them identify the youngsters. Pictures of the Gollys have been posted on Facebook and Twitter as well as Caithness.org. The term in the UK is seen as a racial slur and there have been incidents across the country where people have been charged for using the name or portraying the character. Wick Gala Committee has also been contacted by police as part of their probe. She added: "Wick Gala is a charity fundraising event and if we start dictating to people what they can and can't go out as it could lead to the end of the gala completely. "This will be a matter which will be discussed, where we might have to look at setting out guidelines." Participants register to take part in the parade on the Friday night where they also pick up collection tins. However committee members are not told in advance what participants plan to dress up as. "If we start dictating what people can come and dress as, it could make things even worse." - Wick Gala Committee member "If we said to people they can't go out as famous characters such as the Jackson Five, it will be difficult to know where you stop dictating," she said. Obviously, most Americans (and not just this country) want good paying jobs and affordable housing. That's probably the #1 issue with healthcare not far behind. Australia accounts for sod all of the total, yet our politicians seem hell bent on inflicting repressive policies on us which do little to help the overalll global situation, yet leave us with unreliable power and monstrous energy bills, most of which is driven by the unrepresentative green party, who get their crazy schemes infiltrated into party policy by backing other legislation (Edited by MJ59) The giant midget: Politicians to please a hand full of environmentalists will hold a entire nation hostage to help fight climate change but it just truly hurts what the majority of the rest of the country real wants .Affordable Housing , measures are put in place like Carbon taxes which takes away cheap housing. In my line of business we can easily build cheap affordable housing. If we can build 4 homes a year for free to giveaway to hospital charities ( free publicity and tax credits ) we can build hundreds of houses cheaper to sell It takes about 15 to 20 years from the day of land purchase to deliver a house to the buyer WHY so long ??? It takes about 2 weeks to submit detailed development and planning too BUREAUCRATIC Ivory Tower Department , their response time is about 2 years later only to say that they will open up the file when payment of 25% of the estimated project cost is received. After that is payed ,3 business days , about 4 months later the public consultations begins with the local residents if no issues arise , emidiatally we are asked to submit another 40 % of projects cost for developing fees about 4 business days , another 4 maybe 5 years till you hear back from them again 200 acres with history of agriculture farmland past 5 generations how much environmental issues can there be with the soil ??? Well it would take around 1 year in the old days before Climate Change and Global Warming became Fashionable , today's norm is forever it close to 6 years when completed Now you will mostlikely wait another year for the tumps up to proceed with another 10 % payment of total project cost for future environmental and wildlife disturbance Ok before the pigeons and the crows only had the old farmers house rooftop and a couple of sheds to land on for a well deserved rest ,hopefully in the near future these poor birds will have 500 brand new rooftops to rest on 14 to 16 months after you are given the green light to start the underground infrastructure , natural gas,hydro,water ,sewage and communications,etc It's all heavy metal equipment for this project to rock and roll now opps they only work with fossil fuels $$$$ carbon tax $$$ emissions tax$$$ Road taxes $$$$Fuel taxes$$$ You sit on a parcel of land paying property taxes , mortgages , government fees etc, it is just part of the business we fully understand that My dad and uncles were in the same business ,it would take them from land purchase to home build complete 5 years .Today it's average 18 years Someone will be paying for the extra time ( roughly 10 years ) property taxes, mortgages and all those climate change and global warming taxes The poor people that are buying those brand new houses are the ones paying for it Houses being build before the late 80's average price to build near the 120grand sold close to 250 grand there was a good supply and demand,government officials helped the industry facilitating on timelines Today same house can be built for 310 grand factor in the extra costs alone waiting for 10 years mortgage rates and property taxes alone add another 130!grand add Mother Nature taxes 26 grand We consume on average 1million litres of fuel per year onsite where 0.44 cents per litre is Carbon emissions taxes alone Affordable housing Yeah right Affordable housing???
