Zanjan: Ghost, I've heard of those stories but in North America, it doesn't phase the police. They break the law of the land, they get thrown in the slammer. It's nothing but anarchy.

I wish these fist shakers luck getting a passport or welfare.

Zanjan: I do - I have two above -ground tanks; one is 900 gallons, the other is 1200 gallons. Only the larger one fills by rain. We don't get enough rain to keep that filled. I live in a semi-arid region so drought is our norm.

I use them to water my flower beds and trees by hand - rationing; takes me 8 hours so I do it in legs as that's a long time to stand. Sometimes, I have to call in a truck to dump a load of water into one. The annoying thing is having to haul the heavy pump across the yard to hook it up to the other tank. I'm 70 years old now so that's getting harder.

What some people won't do just to have lovely flowers and fruit, eh!

ghostgeek: Just found this:

BillBuddy works by taking advantage of the age old tactic big energy companies use to lure in new customers – super cheap introductory deals.

You’ll have cheap bills for 10 months, then out of nowhere the provider will hike up their prices and leave you out of pocket. Not with BillBuddy…

Before that happens, you can move to another provider on another cheap deal without having to pick up the phone or tell anyone.

Simply put, BillBuddy can save you £100s every year by keeping you as a “new customer” forever.

There are over 50 energy companies offering cheaper rates to new customers, and you’ll be kept on the cheapest.

You will never have to deal with any admin, long calls with energy companies etc, BillBuddy makes the whole process a breeze.

There are NO hidden fees and it’s completely free.

Zanjan: There's gotta be a catch - I bet it's when you click on "Answer these simple questions". If something sounds too good to be true.......

In our country, utility prices are regulated by the government so companies can't pull that sort of thing off. You chose your provider (choice of 2) based on the service they give you when something breaks or you need an adjustment.

ghostgeek: I've just been looking at the news about the virus and it's left me scratching my head. Seems there's been an uptick in Paris, with those aged between 20 and 30 particularly affected. So what's the response? In some parts of the city everyone will have to wear a mask outdoors. Why everyone when they know which age group is the culprit?

ghostgeek: Pubs and bars also seem to be good places to go if you want to catch a dose of the virus, yet no talk about shutting them down tighter than a drum. No, it's masks, masks, masks instead.

Zanjan: This just in: During the Covid lock-down, there was a world-wide drop in the rate of premature baby births, down by 37-75%. This was in most countries. Doctors were mystified but intrigued.

Now that businesses have re-opened and are nearly back to normal, neonatal units are starting gert busier again. So far, they've made one possible link to the mystery - air pollution. During the lockdown, industry stopped, cars were parked, and planes didn't fly. The skies cleared and for several months, the world had fresh air. Science is now studying this theory.

Why? That's already been tested. What we need is practical solutions for clean air.

ghostgeek: HIV was first identified in 1984. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced at the time that they hoped to have a vaccine ready within two years.

Despite many trials of possible vaccines, though, a truly effective vaccine is still not available.

Getting all your cardboard recycled may often seem like a pain, but there is big money to be made from all this so-called "beige gold". And sadly this is attracting criminals around the world.

Thieves are making a fortune from stealing used cardboard that's been left out to be recycled, and selling it on. This means that legitimate recycling firms, and the city and other local authorities who take a cut from their sales, are missing out on tens of millions.

"To be honest, most of us don't care who takes it away, as long as it goes," says a shopkeeper in the bustling Chamartin district of central Madrid.

An ebola outbreak in western Democratic Republic of Congo has infected 100 people and killed 43, the World Health Organisation has said.

The latest outbreak of the virus was declared on June 1 in Mbandaka, a city of one million people on the River Congo, just before Congo declared the end of a previous outbreak in the east that had dragged on for two years.

It has spread to remote villages in Equateur province spanning more than 300km of dense forest with few roads, the WHO said in a statement.
