If the bottle banks are anything to go by people are knocking back the booze like there is no tomorrow. But it puzzles me why they are chuggalugging at the expensive brand names of whiskey and Vodka etc. If you are just using the stuff to get to sleep any old plonk will do. With no one having to drive to work they don't have to worry about being breathalysed in the morning. It is creepy at times in the early morning. Not a car anywhere, only me riding home on my motorcycle, like one of those Hollywood movies about the end of the world. But cars are slowly beginning to return in the early hours. Even the skies are empty of Aircraft. Only the occasional rumble of military jets on patrol. Another curious point is the drunks have been swept away by police. Every single little nook and cranny was deserted in town. Normally the drunks would gather out of the way near the River, or under bridge's to drink beer and swap stories. The only thing weird was the Rolling Stones - Charlie Watts was air drumming. Cant believe a musician of such stature had no drum kit at home. Too bad you missed it. Then I watched a science doc and learned about the Carrington Event - maybe you know this one - the largest CME from the sun in recorded history. It caused chaos, and that was in 1859! It made compasses go crazy, and people who'd never seen the Aurora Borealis saw them as far south as Cuba and in Australia. It shortcircuited telegraph wires and set wildfires all over the USA and Europe. There was zero communication for 4 days. Imagine if that happened today, and just when we've cleared the pandemic. Power blackouts for up to a year. That would eliminate all free concerts for the cold, hungry and lonely.
