Vietnam was a long term involvement of the U.S. going back to WE2 . The U.S. never lost any war in Vietnam. The U.S. was supporting South Vietnam in it's attempt to become independent of Hanoi. In Afghanistan, the United States entered the country in a lawful action of self defense after the planning of the World Trade Center attacks were discovered to have originated there. With it's Drone's and Satellites the USA is the only country that can provide international bodies like the UN with up to date information on the situation in that very unstable country. Just turning their back on that troubled country like the world community has in the past is simply inviting more tragedy in the future like civil war and terrorist enclaves. The world is a safer place thanks to the hard work and sacrifice of young American military personnel. Cutting and running is not an option for America or Britain.
