Sir Loin: Fine to be opinionated. My opinion (supported by stats) is that currently women enjoy far more human rights than men do, Just look at family court judgements.
And:
Women live longer
Earn higher income
Have greater health initiatives
Get better education
Have preferential treatment in job appointments
Figure higher in crime statistics of domestic violence as perpetrators yet they are the only ones to have special refuges.
I could keep going but I'm in a good mood and don't want to complain

This is to Sir Loin:

My wife and I are currently visiting the Philippines, Manila, to be precise. I won’t take issue with your statements about Duterte except to say that like many Americans, whose insularity and provincial views render them useless in a discussion such as this, but how ironic that you dare to pontificate on politics in the United States after openly admitting that you know nothing about it at all. Do you not see the irony in such a statement? How do you have the nerve to publicly make such idiotic declarations on politics in the USA without knowing one damned thing about the topic?

Your ignorance and your ludicrous pronouncements are shocking and while we are on the topic, you might ask ME what the people of Manila think about Duterte. Have you ever visited the Philippines or are you just talking out of your ass like so many people do these days? Do you know ANYTHING AT ALL about the drug problem in the Philippines or the United States? Do you have any idea of how complex and intractable a problem it is, regardless of the country under discussion? Do you REALLY think that murdering accused drug dealers en masse without due process or judicial review is a sensible and logical approach to a problem that has baffled numberless politicians, doctors, journalists and psychologists for so many years?

To hear somebody make a blanket statement about all drugs being “bad” sounds like that idiot teacher from South Park, Mr. Mackey say, moronically, “Uh.....boys....uh....drugs are baaaaad.....” etc., et al. Yes, I know that somebody else actually made that statement but if this is the sort of ignorance one finds on Wire Club, next, you’ll probably be telling me that any man who summarily executes drug dealers by the thousands is a great man and a public benefactor. Moreover, President Trump, an idiot if ever I have seen one, routinely cozies up to monsters like Duterte, Putin, Erdogan and Kim Jong Un and THIS is proof positive that the posts that I have read here are ridiculous., to say the very least.

I could go on, but this kind of ignorance is nearly beyond my belief and defies understanding,

zeffur: If you have proof that he's killing homeless people, then you should provide it to the UN.

Sometimes it is necessary to fight fire with fire--do you think Hitler was going to agree without using force? Criminal organizations such as those who engage in drugs, extortion, & theft often require some extreme measures to clear them out---not saying they aren't entitled to due process in their legal system--what makes you think they aren't getting it? Do you have anything other than suspicions?

zeffur: Here's what I see in the article:

"A Pulse Asia poll conducted last month showed 88 percent of Filipinos approved of Duterte's performance as president."

"Duterte, who says the anti-loitering crackdown is a "crime prevention campaign"

Apparently the majority of the pubic wants crime reduced & the rule of law enforced. Duterte seems to be doing just that--are his methods always pristine? Idk--do you have solid evidence to the contrary?

I see nothing in the article about killing innocent poor people. The 4500 that were killed were supposedly drug people who were resisting arrest. If you have evidence to the conrary, you should provide it to the UN in an attempt to quell your apparent outrage.

Effectively cracking down on the drug industry isn't an easy task. Keeping people off the streets after hours to reduce the drug demand doesn't seem like a terrible thing to me, if there are ordinances/laws which set a curfew after a certain time.

It seems most of what you are complaining about is exaggerated.

zeffur: I'd be at home with a shirt on in the AC watching TV or doing something else before the curfew time--and certainly not out looking for drugs or engaging in criminal activities.

I'd also demand the govt to raise taxes & setup food centers for people who are so desperate that they have to go through trash for food.
