Restaurants, Hotels and Hospitality Support - davidk1

davidk1: I've been watching restaurants close, laying off all their employees.

Management and owners did nothing to cause this to occur. If a restaurant closes because of poor decisions, bad food, horrible service, perhaps that is karma.

However, this situation is absolutely the worst thing that could have happened to this industry. I am not saying that this is not happening to other industries, it is.

I am a specialist, a professional, an expert in creating support and leadership for kitchen operations. Anyone who wants to chat about their experiences or want support, I am here.

Tell your family, your friends who are in the hospitality industry about this thread. We need to support those as best we can. In just one city, over ten thousand hospitality employees mostly tipped employees, have no income.

If you are wondering why I created this thread in the politics forum, why not. It is the most active forum on Wire.

Lois, I recently retired after 50 years and I feel so helpless and in a way, I feel guilty that I got out last September. And now, I sit on the sidelines watching my beloved hospitality sector take such a beating.

I am available to anyone that needs to chat. If that is all I can do from this side of the screen, so be it.

LoisS: Its something people havent thought about in the sense of working. Most are just annoyed that the business' are closed. Never mind that the people working there are outta work now/laid off.

To tell you the truth David...I havent even talked about it and no one has really asked. I mean, why would they. People are busy worrying about themselves atm which is more then understandable. I dont think they understand the severity of what is happening though.

Reminds me of 2008 when chaos was ensuing. This time though, its effecting everything to the point of people asking if this will be the new norm now. (impatience is not what we need here)

You lending an is a very nice gesture indeed.

Lois, thanks for the nice comment. I got destroyed in 2008.

2009 and 2010 weren't much better. However, that was due to the mismanagement of our overall country finances. This is not the thread where I am going to point the finger however that was a man-made financial disaster.

This disaster is no one's fault here in the United States. This is not the thread I am going to lay blame. I have another thread in which those thoughts are relevant.

This thread is for those that want to chat about the hospitality industry. There are folks out there opening their restaurant doors and feeding those for free whatever they have left in inventory that has been hurt. Those folks are heroes.

Beaver, the restaurant I worked at last year laid off 95 people yesterday and only the management and 5 staff are left to do the TO GO and delivery business and that is scarce as it is. The company is going to pay the other 95 folks 60% of their weekly average wages....for how long? A couple of weeks? There are over 75,000 employees in this company.

Countries like ours that are on the tail end of this pandemic, are still going to be hammered but not as hammered as Italy.
