I don't know if anybody here saw Gabriel Sterling, a Georgia official connected with the electoral process, give an impassioned and in-your-face rebuke of Trump and the band of creeps who are openly contesting this election. It was a stunning situation; he is the FIRST official to really lay into Trump and to tell it like it is. He has earned my undying respect and admiration for his commitment to defending the process by which we elect our government officials.

Not surprisingly, very few Republicans have openly endorsed Sterling's rebuke and this only gives one more indication that the Republican Party has lost all moral and political legitimacy and it will pay a heavy price for this in the years to come. I wouldn't be surprised if many registered Republicans simply decide to stop supporting the party all together; it would be a fitting end for a party that used to mean something other than blind subservience to a man who seems intent on destroying the party purely out of spite and malice.

That is how history will judge Trump and all those who helped him in his passion to take a wrecking ball to our republic.

Here is Gabriel Sterling's remarkable rebuke of Trump and his demented "enablers." This pretty much says it all as far as I am concerned. Watch it and you'll see what I mean.

I am posting this transcript of a public servant's remarks which showed more courage and moral rectitude than the entire Republican Party possesses. They are brave, inspiring words but they also are angry, indignant words expressing a sentiment that I wholeheartedly endorse:

On Tuesday, a Republican senior election official in Georgia, Gabriel Sterling, gave an emotional and scathing press conference in which he described death threats and abuse he and others affiliated with counting the presidential vote in Georgia have endured. Sterling called out Donald Trump and other Republicans for stoking conspiracy theories about the election and encouraging an atmosphere of intimidation against people trying to do their jobs.

Here is a transcript of his public remarks:

I’m going to do my best to keep it together because it all gone too far, all of it. Joe diGenova [an attorney for the Trump campaign] today asked for Chris Krebs, a patriot who ran [the federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency], to be shot. A twentysomething [voting technician] in Gwinnett county today has death threats and a noose put out saying he should be hung for treason because he was transferring a report on batches from a [voting machine] to a county computer so he could read it. It has to stop.

Mr. President, you have not condemned these actions or this language. Senators, you have not condemned this language or these actions. This has to stop. We need you to step up, and if you’re going to take a position of leadership, show some.

Georgia Republican warns Trump is inciting violence over election: 'Someone will get hurt'
My boss, [Georgia secretary of state Brad] Raffensperger, his address is out there. They have people doing caravans in front of their house. They’ve had people come on to their property. Tricia, his wife of 40 years, is getting sexualized threats through her cellphone. It has to stop.

These are elections. This is the backbone of democracy, and all of you who have not said a damn word are complicit in this. It’s too much. Yes, fight for every legal vote. Go through your due process. We encourage you. Use your first amendment. That’s fine.

Death threats, physical threats, intimidation, it’s too much. It’s not right. They’ve lost the moral high ground to claim that it is.

I don’t have all the best words to do this because I’m angry. And the straw that broke the camel’s back today is, again, this 20-year-old contractor for a voting-system company just trying to do his job … in fact, I talked to Dominion [a voting system company] today, and they said he’s one of the better ones they’ve got. His family’s getting harassed now. There’s a noose out there with his name on it, and it’s just not right.

I’ve got police protection outside my house. Fine. You know, I took a higher-profile job. I get it. Secretary ran for office. His wife knew that too. This kid took a job. He just took a job. It’s just wrong. I can’t begin to explain the level of anger I have right now over this. And every American, every Georgian, Republican and Democrat alike, should have that same level of anger.

Mr. President, it looks like you likely lost the state of Georgia. We’re investigating, there’s always a possibility, I get it. You have the rights to go to the courts. What you don’t have the ability to do – and you need to step up and say this – is stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence. Someone is going to get hurt, someone is going to get shot, someone is going to get killed, and it’s not right. It’s not right … all of this is wrong.

DiGenova, who asked for Chris Krebs to get shot, is a former US attorney. He knows better. The people around the president know better. Mr. President, as the secretary said yesterday, people aren’t giving you the best advice of what’s actually going on on the ground. It’s time to look forward. If you want to run for re-election in four years, fine – do it. But everything we’re seeing right now, there’s not a path. Be the bigger man here, and step in. Tell your supporters: “Don’t be violent. Don’t intimidate.” All that’s wrong. It’s un-American.

When I posted last, if you read closely I DID make a reference to that. On the other hand, my original statement still stands. If you took a survey of people in my age group, I will GUARANTEE you that the majority have views similar to mine.

That's because I knew, even growing up, that we did NOT live in a banana republic where free and open elections are a joke; this, however, is NOT.

I will stand on that and if anybody has any evidence, outside of these two examples, I would love to hear about it.

I think that by this time, whatever hopes Trump might have had for overturning the election results are all but gone so now, we and the entire civilized world will be regaled by the spectacle of a petulant, spoiled, arrogant brat trying to evade reality and live in a dream world where he can see himself as "a great man," while the rest of the world mocks and derides him.

But it all ends on January 20. Typically, because he bitterly resents the fact that HE will no longer be the center of attention, he will stage a "rally" replete with thousands of pop-eyed adoring morons decked out in their MAGA caps, all chanting whatever it is they think their lord and master wants to hear. Whatever it is, it will be loud, boisterous and ultimately meaningless. Moreover, after the spectacle of Rudy Giuliani spouting bullshit while farting repeatedly and sweating like a pig only serves to underscore how grotesque he and Trump have become.

Meanwhile, the rest of the civilized world looks on in wonderment and tries hard to see the United States not as a laughingstock but rather, as the defender of human rights and an advocate for democratically ruled nations that respect the rule of law. This will only be possible when Joe Biden takes office on January 20.

God save the republic until then!

Apropos of the flurry of pardons that will surely emerge as January 20 draws near: it brings to mind that scene from "Schindler's List" where Amon Goeth, the sadistic commandant of the camp, becomes fascinated by the idea of "pardoning" somebody. Its only after Oskar Schindler plants the seed of a thought in Goeth's mind when he says, "True power is having the power to kill, but regardless, you don't exercise that power."

Its hard to know just how Goeth takes this; apparently, the idea intrigues him and he mockingly refers to himself as "Amon the good," which, to him, is merely a perverse joke.

Still, the idea intrigues him. Later on, when he sees that one of the inmates has been unable to clean his bathtub properly, the boy, in terror, tells Goeth that it can't be done and, with a momentary rush of benevolence, he simply says to the boy, "Go on. I....pardon you," as the terrified boy scampers out of the room.

Moments later, Goeth has second thoughts about his generosity and as the boy is seen making his way across the prison compound, suddenly a shot rings out and the boy falls down dead. We see Goeth from his balcony picking off inmates with his rifle as a diversion until his girlfriend disgustedly rebukes him for this.

Why is this important? Only because, like Goeth, Trump relishes having the power not only to pardon but also the power of life or death must surely have its appeal for Trump. Even stranger, why is Trump handing out pardon so easily for people who, so far, have not been charged with any serious crimes? Who exactly are these people and WHY does Trump believe that they will need to be "pardoned" anyway?

Why indeed?

I suspect that part of it naturally is the rush that Trump must get from granting "pardons" simply because it assuages his ego and gives him the impression of omnipotence. Its as simple as that and no more complex than the realization that HE and he alone can grant this largesse which only bolsters his ridiculously overinflated ego.

Of course, Trump will never see any jail time but that supposition is not so clear as far as his accursed offspring are concerned. They should be very uneasy and THAT may explain Trump's (smirk) "largesse."

I think I've HAD it with all those benighted NUMBSKULLS whining about the need to wear masks. My God in heaven, don't these people realize that the mask idea is meant to SAVE LIVES????

WTF is WRONG with them anyway? My wife was so disgusted that she said, simply, "If they're too stupid or stubborn to wear a mask, then the hell with them." Given the consequences of being unprotected, I can't say that I disagree with her because she's right. The only thing I hope for is that we DON'T want them to put either of us at risk. After all,if they're too fucking STUPID to protect themselves, then it doesn't speak well for the rest of us who, as a consequence, are now more at risk.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has refused to set an example for the general population and this, too, is a horrifying abdication of his responsibility to work to protect the people of this country. Worse still, they show no sign at all of scaling back all the holiday celebrations that take place at the White House this time of year.
If Trump and his band of idiots came out and said to the rest of us, "We don't give a FUCK about any of you!" it would be just about the same thing.

These people HAVE to go and as quickly and efficaciously as possible. The country cannot easily withstand Trump's "scorched earth" approach which is to PUNISH the country for rejecting him. Trump's legacy will be malice, hatred and spite. So what else is new?

That is how history will judge him and those who assisted him in his efforts to steal the election will not fail to note the irony of a man spouting bullshit about "free and fair elections" while trying to destroy the very system he PROFESSES to admire.

Trump's policy, as I have already said, will be one of HATRED. Moreover, history will not only judge him to be the LOSER (a word he loathes) but worse still, he will forever be remembered as a SORE LOSER which is the worst sort there is.

THAT is the legacy of Donald J. Trump
