"The kingdom of God, is just something for christians to hope for in the future" (Page 4)
Combine: Coffrey asked: "Without religion, how do you know which path to take?"
The answer is easy. You just follow your heart. If your conscience agrees, then you're doing the right thing. God expresses Himself this way. You don't need religions to guide you, that's totally unnecessary and only complicates the picture besides leading you astray through undesired influences.
Who says that the rabbis, priests and imams are right anyway? They all can't be, since they frequently disagree! No, leave them alone and establish your own direct relationship with God. Then, you have no restrictions, no obligations and no duties to fulfill, which claims to be from Him, but are surely made by humans in His name as a means to control your life. You won't have total freedom until you rid yourself of such heavy yokes.
Coffrey: My heart pumps blood, combine, not sure what your's does. The thing is, if your God only wants you to be yourself, then why bring the God into in the first place? How do you God is even real without the religious texts?
Combine: Unlike most believers, I am honest enough to admit that I have no irrefutable proof that God exists. But I cannot relate to a reality without Him. Instead of seeking Him in man made houses of worship (in all contexts), I enjoy what I feel is His presence in the great outdoors cathedral, where His creation can be admired unfettered by any religious doctrines that otherwise dictate the agenda.
Coffrey: No, actually I am curious how you know, you don't have to have irrefutable proof or whatever, just what makes you think he's there to begin with?
doulas4life: @ Coffrey the Bible is just one of the ways God used to tell us the truth. Plus it has the ability to tell us the future, history, geography, archeology, and unbiased science also can prove things in the Bible. I might need to try and send you a message on some things that show how accurate the Bible has been and continues to be. And I think I know what makes Combine think God is there I think God puts a desire in the heart of every man to know Him.
God does many things except violate your free will in order to save souls.
I like to think of it as a signature of God on one of His greatest masterpieces a desire to know God so they do not go to hell.
and when someone does get saved God gives a way for them to obey Him
Ezekiel 11:19 "Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, [fn] and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh,
Ezekiel 11:20 "that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
Coffrey: Well the bible can't prove the bible and it's not like the bible points to any other work for clarity, so don't know what you're talking about there.
What desire? If that were true, then there would be no atheists.
But you didn't answer my original question. After whipping a man to death in front of your child claiming it absolves him of all sin, would you lock your child in the basement if he didn't love you enough?
Combine: Coffrey, when I was a little girl, my mother's great aunt Wilma was still alive. She was part Cree, of the tribe that is now called White Bear First Nation.
Aunt Wilma was a firm believer in God. Her great grandmother had told her about Him when she was young and this concept was probably rooted in some kind of primitive nature cult passed down through generations from times immemorial. Wilma was convinced that this deity was the same as the biblical one, but that both Christians and other religious people had complicated things by creating a rigid religion around their worship.
Since my parents and other close relatives are non-believers, Aunt Wilma's belief is the only one I have really been exposed to. And that's all I need. Nothing else matters, like ritual prayers, sacred scriptures, holy psalms and a formal liturgy, so I totally fail to see why these things should be so important. To me, it's enough with a direct contact and a personal relationship. So there you have it: My belief is based on pure faith, not anything that people try to pass off as proof.
Coffrey: I'm still not sure, are you deist or something? Here's the thing, you don't have a direct or "personal" relationship with any god. See in a personal relationship, you can see the person, hear the person and know what the person is thinking about. Not to be too brash or anything, but what you have is an imaginary friend. The old quote "When you talk to God, it's called prayer, when he talks to you its called schizophrenia". What you have is what you perceive is a historical account of a entity or person or whatever through skewed eyes what that thing wants and think it's clear proof. If God wanted us to have a "personal" relationship with him, the motherfucker would not put out a book every 1,200 years or so and actually show himself to us.
I won't claim to know the reason why you guys are religious, whether it's fear of death or fear of the unknown or a community environment or whatever. But it's not rooted in any truth
LilMissAlexandria: Doula answer me this hitler was a believer is he in heaven and if he is why am i going to hell when i give to charity, never resorted to violence or theft, help people who need help, yet because im a trans, gay athiest im worse than a mass murderer who is a believer
LilMissAlexandria: i feel that people were just more gullible when these religions came about im sorry if that offends anyone it wasnt meant to
xapim: i herd only 500 people go to heaven and all they do is stand there and say gods awsome, i believe everyone needs to sin a little bit =)
2lmkr: i have read the book of lies many times and was an ordained minister for years and i am telling you that the bible is nothing more than the history of mans own agenda. when you consider it was a roman pagan whose mother was a high priestess who took interest in formatting a council to oversee the translation from the ancient hebrew to latin. they refused such testaments like the book of thomas, book of enoch, the maccabees, the story of lilith and many other ancient texts. how can one pick and choose correctly? how can one interpret correctly considering the old language was dead 300 years before the council began translation? it was purely mans own agenda that wrote the book of lies.
from that moment man used his book of lies to decieve the world. man used it to conquer the weak and cause war on his enemies. then some 1000 years later when england had control of this book of lies by conquering the world they chose to interpret it for their own purpose. now you had ancient hebrew bastardized into weak latin and then into old world english another 1000 years later. even today we have several translations from the old english into modern languages.
how many times can you interpret something and it still be 100% factual?
Merry Meet, Merry Part, until we Merry Meet again...
Pagan Serenity Prayer~
Lord and Lady grant me the power of Water, to accept what I cannot change.
The power of Fire, for energy and courage to change the things that I can.
The power of Air, for the ability to know the difference.
Grant me the power of Earth, for the strength to know and walk my path.
So mote it be!!!
doulas4life: @ AlexaMakesPerfect
Let me start by saying that I Love you, and my heart hurts for you.
I also want to say that God loves you too, and Jesus wants to heal you.
I believe there is not one human being on this planet that is an accident.
I believe God hand formed you in your mothers womb and He made you for a reason, He has plans for you.
I want to thank you for sharing so much about yourself with me.
Let me say I do not know if Hitler is in hell or heaven,
I am not God, and I do not know if Hitler ever repented.
What I will say from what history tells me;
is that the behavior of Hitler was not of a man who believed in Jesus.
you see people tell lies,
plus the Bible teaches there will be people who think they are saved and are not.
Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Matthew 7:22 "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'
Matthew 7:23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"
Now let me also say in love that to God all sin is evil and to be hated,
I may not of done the sins Hitler did or that you did, but I am still guilty before God because of the sins I did do.
That means I am not better than Hitler, and it means I am not better than you.
Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
But God is forgiving and because I did repent and give my life to Jesus I do have hope, and God does not lie.
There are a couple things you should know we are all guilty before God not just you,
and without repentance there is no forgiveness of sins.
Also let me share the very first verse in the Bible with you
Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
This might be the most important verse for you to understand.
It is not all about us, it is all about God.
Many people make the mistake of rejecting Jesus, or thinking they know better than God.
I can look at my nieghbor and say they do this sin, and they do that sin,
and I do not so I am a good person.
But my nieghbor is not the standard of what is good, Jesus is. So I would be lying to myself.
Precious soul one loved by God,
I have no doubt that if you are 100% human and have not died yet,
if you repent Jesus would welcome you with open arms, heal you, and some day bring you to a place with no more tears, and no more pain.
please step free from this fallen world and this fractured creation
and enter into the joy of the Lord.
The peace of God is worth more than anything in this fallen temporary world,
read the verse below and know what God wants to give you.
John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
That is what the believer in Jesus has to look forward too.

Coffrey: I feel so sorry for you that you do not think you are better than Hitler, simply based on a book manufactured to destroy someone's self esteem and then build it back up with that religion in the middle.
deuce916: doulas4life your lord sounds like a real bastard. A real loving lord - rejecting people it has made & damning them because of bullshit.
Coffrey: Yeah, the obvious examples, why make homosexuals or people with a high libido.
Or a more complex example like, God made me just as I am, he made it to where I won't accept the evidence that is presented for his existence, because of course we don't choose what we believe. So by making me that way, knowing just the amount of evidence that will convince me and making it so there isn't that evidence, then condemning me to Hell, how can you call that God loving? His plan for me is to become a resident of Hell? You can say a lot of things about that God, but loving cannot be one of them
deuce916: Agreed. This lord he speaks of is guilty of much worse than what Hitler was. Bad god. Naughty god. 'Always thinking about itself' god. 'Not thinking about other people' god. And how exactly did mary get impregnated. You guessed it - by god. Very naughty god. He needs a rest. He needs someone to step up & take his place because he's tired & irritable. I'll take his place if he likes. I think I'm at least a bit more loving than the god doulas talks about. It'll be like a holiday for everyone.
Coffrey: I'm certain that deuce would make a better god, and so would you, doulas and probably all of the people you know because our morality is better than God's is, because he has the morals of a 3,000 year old tribal chieftain and we, as a society, have learned much better ways since then
Crocodilia: The Judeo-Christian God has changed over time. If you read the Bible carefully, you will notice that this concept has different characteristics when it appears to Abraham, in Egypt, in the desert, during the conquest of Canaan, during the Era of the Judges, with David and during the Babylonian Exile. After the return to the Promised Land, God seems to have distanced himself from his chosen people, since Judaism now split up in several sects and subsects, each with their own definition of what God was and how he should be worshiped. In Christianity; he has suddenly become triune with a son that is even one of his own aspects!
So many chaotic and conflicting properties can only have come about through the fusion of countless sources, which regarded God in different ways at different times and places, where their personal conviction breathed life into various elements that added to his biography. They even called him by different names such as El, Elohim, El Shaddai, El Elyon, YHWH (Yahweh), Adon and Adonai, to mention the most common ones.
Some food for thought by those still claiming that the biblical God figure isn't man made.
Lucifera: If you read both on and between the lines, it's easy to see that this kind of deity must have been hybridised from many different influences over time.
shreya372: All gods started out as something else. A fetish, a nature-based deity, a deified human etc. To claim that something is completely unique and doesn't contain elements from older sources would be a lie.
Crocodilia: By now, it's almost impossible to trace the origins of the Judeo-Christian(-Muslim) God with any degree of accuracy, although it's easy for the experts to spot both Indian, Persian, Egyptian and Mesopotamian influences. Most likely, the oldest part of him started out as the object of a cult dedicated to a dead king or a tribal leader in Mesopotamia some 6000 years ago, then added aspects as his worshipers came into contact with other peoples.
