Wake up you morons! Zanjan: Nevertheless, a little food for thought I heard somewhere: Sin is man saying to God "Leave me alone"; hell is God saying to man "As you wish". CoIin: Another charming little anecdote which has absolutely no bearing on reality. Rebellion is child saying to Santa Claus "Don't give me any more presents". Reality is Santa Claus saying to child "I never did." Zanjan: Those who've lived a life without God, then changed to live a life with God will tell you what the reality is. Reality isn't a one-sided experience. Geoff: Believing that there are fairies at the bottom of your garden may make you feel happier about it, but the lawn still needs to be mowed. WITNESS REV 11_ 3: i am elijah one of the 2 witnesses in rev 11:3 jesus will be here in about 4 years ....a little less (Edited by WITNESS REV 11_ 3) Zanjan: Hey, some people haven't failed! You're right. Things are as they were when Jesus appeared back then - why else would God need to send Him? The Bible doesn't say Jesus returns - you'd have to prove that bone dust can get up and walk. Eeek! If yer lookin' for that, you'll wait forever, Godot. The Bible says *The Christ* returns and, that this spiritual rank is in a new body. Time to take the superstition and magik out of ignorance! (Edited by Zanjan) Zanjan: Modern science can't disprove spiritual doctrines - it's not the same field. However, it continues to come up with a wealth of archeological and anthropological evidence of the places and people spoken of in the scriptures. We know they existed and where their temples, towns and palaces were. But to believers, their existence was never in question - scriptures aren't a tourist catalog. Inasmuch as the cultures inspired by these ancient religions have passed away, it's not the history we cling to - it's their truths, which were the building blocks that led us to greater comprehension of archetypes and the spiritual realities. These were our roots - they're solid, alright, as surely as the first man who walked out of his cave. Today, there's way too many who live in a backwards, upside down world; they haven't even realized their boat has capsized - when they look up, all they see is the bottom of the sea. Naturally, all discussion about orientation will sound like nonsense to them. Here's that dynamic, first cited so long ago in the Bible - that God's message "....is foolishness to those who are perishing.....". (Corinthians 1) (Edited by Zanjan) CoIin: . A recapitulation of recent events Zanjan: talk shite Human being :refute Zanjan: Talk more shite and doesn't understand Human being: refute again and Zanjan still doesn't understand Zanjan : more shite Conclusion: Zanjan is convinced she is wise (edit: was drunk and misspelled recapitulation ) (Edited by CoIin) Geoff: "You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into." - Jonathan Swift. We can (using scientific processes) study, document, categorise and even explain all manner of psychological disorders. However, it is almost impossible to prove the nature of delusions to those who suffer from them. If you talk to fairies, you're weird. If fairies talk to you, you're crazy. If fairies tell you to burn people at the stake, you're religious. Geoff: Um, no - I don't agree with Colin on all matters. On this we seem to have reached an accord, but there are many discussions which have lead to a mutually accepted disagreement. And, if I am a wimp because I can eloquently state my case, resorting to reason and logic: then I happy to be a wimp, rather than a loon. //Edit - removal of an unintentional letter added because of missing the enter key. (Edited by Geoff) Geoff: Um... "I don't agree with Colin on all matters. On this we seem to have reached an accord, but there are many discussions which have lead to a mutually accepted disagreement." - Is what I said. Therefore... um... Bazinga? Zanjan: Geoff: "it is almost impossible to prove the nature of delusions to those who suffer from them." And why should we bother, even if we could? Sometimes, people are much happier in their own little world, counting the castles in the air floating by. Should we wrench their happiness from them? What if they're unprepared to see reality so they crumble from the burden? Who are we to say to any particular one of them the time is right for them to wake up? I leave that to God. I'm here for those who've already made that leap. (Edited by Zanjan) | Religion Chat Room 33 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
