Who Believes in the Devil? (Page 101) Zanjan: Of course there are. It's the most recent of God-sent religions. One of the main teachings is independant investigation of truth; therefore, you will have to research Baha'i scriptures for yourself. Start here and follow the links to the topic you want: https://www.bahai.org/ I don't quote Baha'i scriptures at Wire very often at all, and it's NEVER to prove a point. I include extracts only because they're the most beautifully stated on a given subject. There's reams and reams of writings, just on this subject alone. (Edited by Zanjan) Zanjan: By the way, I have two full sets of encyclopedias just on the history of the Baha'i Faith - the first one hundred years is the richest documentation of events in any religious history on earth. ghostgeek: No, not my wishful thinking, though I don't envy your bedtime reading. It just sounds so ... boring. ghostgeek: Now if you read about electric sheep dreaming of rice pudding, I might find that more to my liking. Zanjan: The devil doesn't own you - he's God's Mental Asylum Admin. There's no release without God's approval. Even so, that's probational. Zanjan: She manages the books.......is no doubt swamped in IOUs; spends day pumping out copies of ransom notes and mailing them to God. kylieMcNulty: I am constantly amazed at the mysterious way in which our Lord works. Take God’s kill rate in the Bible: 2,5 million people. What can the Devil boast? A measly 10 souls. I mention this because we need to watch Satan as he is notoriously sneaky. While God is in-your-face and honest, one never knows what the Devil has been up to, and better the Devil you know! Of course, the 2,5 mill excludes the deaths resulting from the Great Flood, the obliteration of Sodom and Gomorrah, general plagues, famines, and other miseries. Then God’s kill rate rises to an impressive 24 mill. And even those ten who Beezlebub killed were not entirely his own work. They were the seven sons and three daughters of Job, and God only allowed it as part of a bet. Technically speaking, those deaths should be shared five-a-piece, as some of that blood was earned via God’s hands. Most of God’s strikes were perfectly logical and understandable, such as when He killed David and Bathsheba's baby boy; or when He smote that man who picked up sticks on the Sabbath. Other times he was probably intending to show off His sense of humor, like when he killed Jehoram by making his bowels fall out; or those people he smote for dancing naked around Aaron's golden calf. Isn’t it pleasing to know that our Lord has a sense of ‘joie de vivre’? Remember when He had those religious leaders killed for taking part in a prayer contest? What did they think it was, MasterPriest? Or how about the time He made a wall fall on those Syrian soldiers. Hoo boy, bet they never saw that coming! Importantly, God also likes to use smiting as an educational tool. For instance, who will forget the lesson about teasing baldies after God sent two bears to kill children for mocking Elisha's bald head? And don’t forget how God sent a lion to eat a man for not killing a prophet. If God says kill, you damn well do it. Probably God’s most memorable kill was when He pre-ordained the death of his own Son as part of His grand plan for Jesus (Isaiah 53:10). "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief". ghostgeek: I think we can take it as true that if God exists, then Hitler, Stalin and Mao are all in heaven for being right-on members of the faithful. ghostgeek: On the Westminster Abbey website, outlining some basics of Christianity, is the following: "The reasons why God allows great evil and suffering to persist are hard to fathom." Only hard to fathom if you think a good God exists. Zanjan: Hard to fathom?? That's a banner, admitting that Christians are clueless to God's ways. You know, it doesn't matter how many times God explains the reasons, some people just skip past that part. Why? Because He's saying "This is on YOU" - look at it, look at what your hands have wrought! You can't run from this. How long will you continue to believe you can get by without cleaning up your room? Zanjan: If it's God out there kicking ass, those asses bloody well deserve it. Do you think the Prophets all had a fun time? They suffered right along with the rest yet were innocent. Otherwise, the downtrodden would say, 'how can you understand what my suffering and pain is like if it's never touched you?' None of Them avoided pain and hardship, be it physical or emotional - They accepted to walk gracefully through a brutal world to show people how to do it. Under all conditions, they were thankful for their blessings. That's how a real man behaves. The people wouldn't believe unless they saw it for themselves. God gives people work but the devil just torments them with fear. (Edited by Zanjan) Zanjan: Young George Washington was admired for so bravely confessing "I cannot tell a lie, I did cut down that cherry tree". An appropriate response when caught red-handed! His Neanderthal father was angry - what does a parent expect when they give a 6 year old a hatchet for their birthday? Only by the grace of God did that father not find the hatchet planted in his jugular vein. (Edited by Zanjan) ghostgeek: I've been getting away with not cleaning up my room for years. Getting too old to change the habits of a lifetime. ghostgeek: In reality the Devil is a cuddly puss who wouldn't hurt a fly. It's Boss Man God who's the grouch. Zanjan: I was just watching a documentary recently about a family that barely the strength to get out of bed, much less dust the furniture. They brought professionals into their lovely, well-appointed home to examine what might be causing their symptoms. Theirs was an older home, which had been entirely renovated and upscaled when they bought it. The investigators found 3 different kinds of mold. The house was clean but as they tore away the walls, so much mold was in behind them. The house had to be entirely gutted. They had to throw away everything they owned, even all their clothes because the invisible spores were in the air, landing on everything. They weren't able to re-build. What you can't see, Ghost, can destroy you, just not all at once. Zanjan: Not necessarily. The people above had house insurance but the insurance company wouldn't cover anything - mold damage wasn't in the contract. They can warn you what they don't cover, like acts of terrorism, vandalism, and flooding but they can't give you a heads up on every possible scenario. Self-care is in order. Undoubtedly, the previous homeowner had a warped idea of self-care and put up a very attractive purchase price to move it quickly....... the buyers walked right into that. However, they were the kind of people who can hold their head high because they ended the pattern. The price was heavy but they protected others. When you apply self-care correctly, you're also protecting others. If you have a virus, isolate yourself; stay home, wash your hands often, wear a mask, and don't infect others. Ask the pharmacy to deliver your medications, dropping them off at your door. YOU set the stage for what is to come. You're the example. Someone is bound to mimic you.
