Genesis 3, do people really study or read the bible? (Page 2)

CoIin
CoIin: Um, ok, but you didn't address the crux of the issue at all, Cenababy. Consider two scenarios:-

Scenario A
--------------
Adam and Eve have free will
Adam and Eve freely choose to sin (no interference from God)

Scenario B
--------------
Adam and Eve have free will
Adam and Eve freely choose not to sin (no interference from God)

It's your belief that God created the world such that Scenario A obtained. Correct?

Do you agree that Scenario B is better than Scenario A?

Cenababy: well, I am not sure, is it, are they? I think we could have different endings depending on which path Adam and Eve chose. How bout they chose what they did and so, we carried on....if they were drones do you believe that we would still exist, or that we would still have the same history we do. I would love it if there was less evil in the world, love if people would put others first instead of themselves, I would love to live forever with my loved ones, I would love there to be no suffering...but...It is what it is......perhaps we are talking a trust issue here...ah there is a good theory...or perhaps, Eve was so caught up in the fruit and what she heard from satan that, she made that choice because Adam wasn't there to guide her....and even him knowing it was wrong, he chose his life partner over what HE KNEW was right from wrong....perhaps he didn't want to be alone and knew that she had already doomed them, he knew (probably) that if he didn't follow along with her, that he would suffer the death of her and be alone, I can't speak for either of them or God for that matter. The history is there, the story is there, the lessons are there...the bottom line Colin, is that we do have a choice as to what kind of life we want and choose. There is the point, it isn't whether or not God could have made them "to not sin" or not....he gave them a choice to live one way or the other, they chose wrongly, obviously......and I guess to get the answer you search for, you will have to ask Jesus!

CoIin: With all due respect, I think you're still missing the point. How about we consider two different worlds rather than two different scenarios:-

World P
--------------
The first man and woman in World P, Padam and Peve, have free will
Padam and Peve freely choose to sin (no interference from God)

World Q
--------------
The first man and woman in World Q, Qadam and Qeve, have free will
Qadam and Qeve freely choose not to sin (no interference from God)

Which is the better world : World P or World Q ?

Cenababy: well, I did answer that....If World P happened, we know how that turned out, if World Q had happened instead, what would our history be, would we even still be here? see Colin, depending on which path we choose, brings what happens in the future....would World Q be nice, well who knows, I would like to think so but "what if" that world had happened instead and then there was no point to the future generations or how bout no history because of that path? see it is easy for us to sit here and second guess God, we really, we can't, only he knows all the why's. I hope that helps....I choose to go with what has happened and what we can do about it now

Cenababy: ps having said that.....i am not sure there is much to do, i think we have made our beds, now let the chips fall where they may. there are too many people against any form of God to let things be fixed!

Well, thanks for the answer, but I'm afraid it makes no sense. Are you suggesting that Adam and Eve by succumbing to temptation and sinning MAY HAVE DONE THE RIGHT THING?

CoIin: You said above:-

"... he gave them a choice to live one way or the other, they chose wrongly, obviously ...."

So they chose wrongly, right? You said it yourself.

CoIin: I hope now we can agree that World Q where Qadam and Qeve freely abstain from sinning is a better world than World P where Padam and Peve freely sin.

Given that God is omnipotent, he can create any world he likes. Right?

Then why did we get lumbered with World P?

calybonos: Because world P is necessary in order for the Bible's prophecies to be correct.

Sort of like a movie doing a book justice.

God, as well as all of the people who read the book would feel cheated if we don't get the climactic ending of an Armageddon.

It's basic marketing 101.

ghostgeek: The title of this thread is "Genesis 3, do people really study or read the bible?" My considered answer would have to be NO! Consider Genesis 3. Does it mention Satan or the Devil? No, no way does it mention either. In fact Satan doesn't get mentioned in the Bible until 1 Chronicles 21:1 and we hear not a word about the Devil until Matthew 4:1. So how come most everybody seems to think that the Serpent in the story is Satan? Why can't it be a snake, just as the author of the tale tells us? In many cultures of old the snake was held to be a symbol of wisdom. So what does the Serpent, or snake, tell Eve? That the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was OK to eat. That Eve wouldn't die, indeed, that she would have her eyes opened, that she would be as a god, knowing good and evil. Did the snake lie? No, Eve didn't die and she did gain the knowledge of good and evil. There wasn't even any sin committed. Sin isn't mentioned in the Bible until Genesis 4:7, with that little temper tantrum of Cain's. Indeed, how could it be otherwise, considering that Adam and Eve could never have known they were doing wrong until they'd had that fateful nibble.

Nicegirl211: It is a book of contradictions. I keep finding them. Take the New Testament and the Ten Commandments and throw the rest away. U don’t need that part. Then have a personal relationship with God like I do.
