ghostgeek: Now let me guess. We know prophets don't lie because somebody told us. So how do we know that "somebody" wasn't lying? Simple answer: we don't!

Zanjan: Actually, the Prophets never said "I don't lie" - they only said they were telling the truth.

To me, this shows they never had to defend themselves - they had to defend the truths.

Zanjan: That's because the onus is on the recipient to prove otherwise. The law is founded on "innocent until proven guilty". A liar can always be exposed, quickly and easily. Do you know why?

Well, it's because God doesn't guide them - liars always condemn themselves out of their own mouths. They literally spill the beans.

ghostgeek: So I have to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that good old "Mo" Moses was a liar. Is that what you're saying Zanjan? Well, I'm willing to give it a go if you've got the time.

OK, let's begin at the beginning. Do we believe Moses when he told the Israelites he was eighty? Archaeology tells us that few men made it to the age of eighty in Biblical times. I believe Ramesses II lived until he was about ninety but he was exceptional, even for a pharaoh. Yet, if Exodus is to be believed, Moses was starting out on forty years of wandering long after the age most other men were dead. That, for starters, strains credibility somewhat. Of course, Moses' age defying powers don't stop there. Oh no, he takes up mountaineering in a big way, running up and down the Mountain of God like a spring chicken. And when he's a hundred and twenty years old he's still able to strap on his crampons and go scooting up Mount Nebo like a gazelle?

Sorry, but the jury thinks, on balance, that Old Mo was larding the truth when it comes to his age.

Deuteronomy 34:7
Moses was 120 years old when he died. His eye was undimmed, and his vigor unabated.

Zanjan: Genesis stated that the maximum lifespan a human could have is 120 years, even back then. Scientists have confirmed this is still true today, due to the way the human body is designed. All our medical advancements and spare parts replacements have not advanced this line.

I'd only investigate Moses's claim to age if he lived much longer than that, or if He'd completed His mission before the age of 12.

We can carbon date bones. If you find His body, we can continue that argument. If not, you may want to put forward that He never existed. However, something tells me God protects the remains of the Prophets from exploitation - I doubt we can get a DNA sample.

Perhaps we should be chasing around modern Prophets with a cotton swab?

ghostgeek: This is what Psalm 90:10 has to say on longevity:

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
( King James Version )

I've seen a number of people who've lived into their eighties, my mother is one, and not one looked as though they could undertake forty years of trekking in the wilderness, let alone the odd bit of mountain climbing thrown in for good measure. This, of course, takes into account all the cosseting to be gained from the modern urban lifestyle. Thus I say again that it's very doubtful that Moses was eighty when he became the scourge of Egypt. Like much in the Exodus account, Moses' age seems to have undergone a measure of exaggeration in the retelling of the tale.

You may have grown up in a world where to believe what you're told is the norm but I haven't. I was taught to question, and when I'd arrived at an answer, to question that. To me, it is you who babbles on, completely closed to anything that might contradict your hand me-down-beliefs. Sorry lad, but you've just earned yourself another D-.

Zanjan: There's a lady who's a member of one of the churches in town - Hazel. She runs the winter walking program at the community center, doing 1 hour in laps around the gym 3 times weekly. She's 92 years old, fit & trim, stylish and still drives very well - man, she looks better than I do.

I realize she's the exception but is still a model for us all. I look at her and want to get down and do push-ups! I hate pushups. My grandmother never did them and she lived to 102 - couldn't see or hear very well by then but was sharp as a tack and fiesty as a Black Irishman to her last breath.

TERRIBLE, this is something with God ???? with prophecies ??? with God's holy spirit and kingdom ???? you are totally weird

At least you spelled the word "God" without putting a dash in place of the letter 'o', as if we couldn't possibly imagine what's between G and D. Naturally, your stauncher Hebrew-Jewish compatriots think of you as a heretic for that. Congrats.

Ghost, I see your D- and up you to a D +

chay chayi: The reason why many Jews, write G-d, and not God, is because its a law, not to write out God's name on a way that it can be erased, and its a law in the Torah, not to erase the name of God, and to honor God's name, not to use his name on a cheep way, its not because to hide his name, BUT, really, its only when God's name is written in Hebrew, because only God's name in Hebrew is holy and considered as written, that's why i write in English totally, God, and not G-d. secondly, even in Hebrew, if its for a purpose to honor God and his words, its the opposite, to write God's name, and those Jews who don't, is because they want to honor God's name, not to write it for any purpose, only in the Torah, but its not a law, and i mean to honor God by do writing his name

Zanjan: "God" is not a name - its a designation, just like "Human" is not my name either.

There is only one God and His name is (blank). See? I'm being respectful while using proper spelling and grammar.

When communicating to others, one should make an effort to use language correctly; otherwise, they come off as being as poorly educated and somewhat clueless. Their reason for their reluctance doesn't matter - they're still being obstinate.

chay chayi: God is a title to God, its the translation of the Hebrew word in the Torah - Elohim - אלהים, it means "Almighty", and many major titles are told not to be erased, or said for no honored purpose, his only one name in Hebrew is "יהוה", in English "Yehovah" and this name is not allowed to be pronounced by the mouth at all, and i already clarified the reason, but you ignore and scorn God's laws, and you deny anything about God's commands, you're a plain heretic, and you come up with your "modern" religion, that is "smarter" than the "old dead God" you are modern and smart, but God's laws are outdated, and when God says you should not pronounce his name, but you are smart and modern, listen, you are a dummy fool that makes up own man made nonsense, you don't have the minimum knowledge about God and his wisdom, NOTHING, you are busy with science and economic and all physical nonsense, and you make out of all these nonsense a "modern intelligence religion" empty nothing

Zanjan: Like I said, a title (designation) is not a name, just like my name is not Madam or Queen

I ignore and scorn God's law??? You're the one who typed the name of God. By the way,
God has many names - around 350 of them. That's a literal minefield for Jews who have such odd ideas about English usage.

You know nothing of my religion - God has abrogated some old laws and added new laws and you don't know what they are. You're deprived of these things by your own choosing. Those who can't adapt to the ways and rules of a modern world will end up the same way the Neanderthals did.

chay chayi: Again, even titles that points out God unique, like "Almighty" is not allowed to be erased when its titled on God

I'm the one that typed God ??? are you totally drunk insane ??? did i not explain before why its allowed to write God ?? look again what i said before

I know exactly your religion, and NO laws is abrogated, and no new laws are added, and look in the end of Malachi, it says that till the Messiah will come (you don't even believe in a Messiah, what it says clearly many times in scripture) you should not add or change anything i said through Moses, and i quoted it before many times, but your a liar showing that you believe in scripture but you're a liar, you only believe in "modern" and Bahi, civilization built on humanity, and what exactly is humanity ?? sex, orgasm, naked shoulders, shorties, incest, gay, lesbian, money, fun, tech, etc, its all nothing about God and his holy spirit and kingdom and wisdom, you're a plain heretic covering your physical nonsense with a title as religion and God

All your modern laws is already ending up fatal, it leads to construction, the only way and laws, everlasting, is God
