Are atheists converting into nothing but Jesus bashing mob? (Page 10)

Pacman_
Pacman_: I think also its a natural tendency, to "want to know the things of this life." Some have more of a burning desire, and my assumption would be they had a hard life, or some fuel to the fire to look deeper. We get in trouble when our need to know becomes a fixation and becomes a passive aggressive way to control others based on our beliefs

This may be shocking but as a follower of Christ, I am actually personally insulted more by others claiming to be Christain than I am athesits. Atheists generally do not care what I believe unless I attempt to push it on them.

While religious people judge me and personally insult me for not accepting some groups doctrine regardless of the fact that it is not taught by Jesus. Honestly, I live a very clean, sober, honorable life. I do not have sex and do not do drugs, lie, steal or any of the sort. And still the mob that bashes me the most is those who claim follow the same God I do.

Charles Darwin: "Honestly, I live a very clean, sober, honorable life. I do not have sex and do not do drugs, lie, steal or any of the sort."

As do I....And I'm constantly asked insulting questions like "what keeps you from going out and raping, stealing, murdering, etc" by religious people when I tell them I'm an an atheist....and they're not genuinely curious; not in the least. It's just an excuse to insult.

Matthew 7:16. The Bible claims that you'd be able to recognize the right people by their fruit. If the majority of the people who proclaim to be followers of the Bible seem to have 'rotten fruit', then what's going on?

Charles, I honestly do not know. Though I do know you and I have stood on opposite sides of debate but have never disliked each other or condemmed one another or frankly even judged each other.

Guess my point is you are clearly correct. The fruit seems pretty poor.

Suggesting you would rape someone because you do not believe in God is crazy. I honestly would show up and crash on your sofa, I cannot say that about a lot of my fellow "believers".

It kinda is sad. I firmly believe the number one cause of atheism is theism.

Wish more Christians would follow the one commandment Jesus gave.

Idonthaveausername: Hey guys, I would also like to add that individual personality really plays a role in this. I have met people that are religious and atheist and they are AWESOME PEOPLE. My family is Christian but they are very laid back and chill people to be around. They are very accepting and loving. There are douchebag asshole atheists and there are douchebag asshole religious people. But being a douchebag asshole atheist doesn't have to do with being a atheist and being a douchebag asshole religious person does not have to do with them about being religious. TOLERANCE is KEY. Being tolerant and accepting of one another is an INDIVIDUAL trait. You can disagree with things with people whether it be religion or something else. Just agree to disagree and let it be that. Talk about other things. There is no need to fuel about it.

Being an intolerant, disrespectful, close-minded, douchebag asshole (a mouthful lol) can be ANYONE religious or not.

My BFF think there is a higher being because of all the things that we have and etc, and she thinks it's weird that SOME atheists SOOOOOOOOOOOME NOT ALLLLLLLLLLLLL believe/ think, however you want to say it there is no God. I told here I was an agnostic and that I just don't know if there is. If there is a God "Hey what's up yo!!!" if there is no God, okay no big deal I am specifically an agnostic apatheist/ non-theist, meaning that I hold religion/ knowledge of a higher being to be not relevant in my life. I think that the people around me, school, work and other thinks will affect my life a hell of a lot more that knowing/ believing a religion/ higher being.

I bet you there will be religious people AND atheist people that will hate my comment because they don't agree. If that is they case, they should take look in a mirror... ^_^

Good point there are good and bad people with all types of beliefs. Same as personalities come with all types of thinking.

Well, said people on both sides may hate your comment.

While you and I do not hold the same view. I am a believer of God. I can understand your view and care about you and respect both you and your view.

I do agree with you that theists and atheists are people. People come in all varieties, some are not nice if they disagree with others. Great post, and thanks for pointing out the value of tolerance.
