Geoff: If you had mastered your ego, Zanjan, then you would accept that maybe other people have some thoughts of their own when viewing your art.

Art doesn't have to about mastering anything, art is about expressing a feeling and eliciting feelings in others.

Yes, there are those who are perfectionists in every field - but the "quality" of the artwork doesn't matter as much as what it is and how it speaks to the viewer.

It makes me sad that you can call yourself an artist and simply not get that. You evidently feel that artists should be mere artisans, creating perfect pictures of such narrow scope that there can be no other interpretation of them. I fear that says a lot about your psyche as well as your ego.

Geoff: I'd like to point out - whenever I correct for something in a post, I add what edit I made to the end of that post.

If you're just spewing words and then going back to make sense of them, then I will start deleting every edited post you make. So either think hard about what you post or post an indelible correction after the fact.

Just an FYI - every comment by Zanjan from now on that has Wire's little "Edited by" afterwards will be deleted by me as a the thread creator. Because you have abused that ability.

Zanjan: Geoff, your description of *mastering ego* is totally incorrect.....so incorrect, its not even in the ball park. You, who cant demur to God will say to others they should do this and that??? No offense, but that's pure bullshit. You should slap the hypocrite who taught you that.

Do you even know what ego is? Let me tell you something that happened to day. My parrot has been acting really paranoid all day, so bad I thought he was temporarily mentally ill and was worried about him. He looked at me as if I were the cookie monster and put his cage between him and me. It was his treat time, he squawks for it exactly at the same time every day 2:45 pm sharp. Today, there's no way he'd come out to get it.

I asked him what was the matter with him today. He stared me right in the eye and instantly I had my answer. It was my shirt. I cant believe I had to go change from my cutest shirt ever into something this parrot found acceptable. Soon as I did, he was back to normal, willing to take his treat.

This is what happens when one puts their ego beneath them, Geoff. If you can't bow to the smallest, lowest thing in life, you sure as heck can't to the greatest of all. Maybe you will never quite get that.

Geoff: Yeah - I'm guessing you were already bound to your religion when you learned the definition of ego.

Egalitarianism doesn't have much place in religion. Because - and I know they from things you have said in the past - even your religion doesn't have much room for women to be treated equally. Or is it just your interpretation of your religion?

And neuroscience would question whether a parrot has an ego (I am not questioning that it has a brain capable of though processes) - what you demonstrated was empathy.

Maybe the parrot god is a great male parrot beyond the sky?

Geoff: *this, not they in the second paragraph. Stupid brain going on whole predictive text rampage.

Hey, if I can comment well after the fact that I made a typo - right - every edited post after this will be deleted.

Zanjan: Geoff, you're welcome to be entertained by anything you wish and call it anything you like. That doesn’t mean you’re paying tribute to the artist’s work. Nor does it mean you have any talent to assess my soul.

A master doesn’t always produce beauty – he produces what his senses tell him and conveys it to others, unless he serves those who commissioned him, in which case he’ll direct his focus to their senses and do as they order.

No one is paying me to be here. Until you throw some dollars at me, you have no right to be a tyrannical boss. I'm quite fine with exiting this topic and leaving you to yourself. Deleting all my posts wont matter because you've already read them.

Corwin: Geoff!! ... Are you still arguing with Zanjan??

No... this is just wrong... I think Zanjan needs to understand that there are songs of a religious nature that us Atheists can still appreciate... just as there are Atheist songs that I'm sure Zanjan can appreciate... undeniably... here's one:

Now is the time for Zanjan to suck our Atheist balls... and accept that Lemmy is God!

Sorry Geoff... I'm drunk... just had to do it.

Geoff: I said "artist" not "master".

A master can be a master of a craft. What they produce can be beautiful - in fact it can be a thing of true beauty - but it's not necessarily art.

I can recognise beautiful script - something that achieves a difficult task with efficiency and elegance. And I can see that it is beautiful, I don't know that I could (without two years of training) teach someone else to see the beauty.

Her braces might have had something to do with it too.
