Ask a Pagan/Wiccan Questions (Page 2) That Amazing Guy: Zanjan, it really depends on the individual if they fear the idea of persecution or not. Divergence of what? Corvin, this is a "when I have the time" kind of thing. Zanjan: That's divergence *from*.............and that would be *from* mainstream religion and *from* modern culture. Why else would Wiccans be so reclusive/secretive? PlacidDistortion: Not to sound edgy or anything, but maybe I've just been hanging out with too many Left Hand Pathers, cuz tbh Wicca is pretty mainstream as far as neopagan religions go, imo, and are not always as quiet as you might think, in person maybe, but not particularly online. We pagans are all over the place, if we don't advertize ourselves it's usually because either no one asked or it's not really the business of whatever company is present. We tend to be "secretive" because the hell (or conversely, anti-theism) lectures get old very quickly, or would rather avoid conflict on the subject in general. Corwin: Their continuing mission --- to explore strange new worlds... to seek out new life and new civilizations... to boldly go where no man has gone before. **cue Star Trek theme song** calybonos: When the working day is done, Oh,Pagans They wanna have fuh-un, Oh, Pagans Just wanna have fun.... Corwin: Oh Pagans... well you came and you gave without taking... ... but I sent you away, oh Pagans... ... you kissed me and stopped me from shaking... ... and I need you today, oh Pagans That Amazing Guy: Zanjan, that's an extremely difficult question to answer. The religion itself doesn't actually have a "mission." Zanjan: Ok. Let me re-phrase to make it easier. I didn't mean "mission' in the sense of missionary work to convert others to your religion since I know Wiccans don't do that; thus, it doesn't appear that it aims to create a national state of order. Wicca is a modern established, organized group. This means it's not a pagan collective where everyone does their own thing.....am I right? An organization has a raison d' etre; therefore, it must have some policies and a plan, which would entail one or a series of goals. Consequently, every organization encapsulates this in a mission statement. Could you try to explain the reason Wicca exists - it's purpose and aim. If you could elaborate on what it hopes to contribute to society, that would be great. (Edited by Zanjan) danielpreynolds1983: Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill: An Ye harm none, do what Ye will. There is no way that You as a Wicca can avoid doing harm. (Edited by danielpreynolds1983) Zanjan: I think the idea is not to deliberately or knowingly do harm. However, doing whatever is your own will is bound to get you in trouble. You will not be well-liked. cloudygrey33: claire... I don't think there is some place you go to where you become a licensed Wiccan. Like the Division of Magic Broomsticks er something. (The DMB!) That'd be kinda funny though... humanlucario55: Uhh is there a possibility of getting a woman pregnant from dream walking and doing things rather a lot.... | Religion Chat Room 34 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
