John 1

Cenababy
Cenababy: John begins his Gospel by stunning us with his description of Jesus Christ. He never mentions Jesus’ name until verse 17, but it becomes clear right away that he is talking about Jesus. Rather than beginning with the story of His birth, John confronts us with His deity in eternity. Moses begins Genesis (1:1) by confronting us with the majesty of God, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” In the same way, John 1:1 confronts us with the majesty of Jesus Christ, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John wants us to stand in awe of Jesus as God and as the One who reveals the unseen God to us, just as a word reveals an unseen thought.

In the movie, Ben Hur, Ben Hur had been imprisoned by the Romans and was being taken to a galley ship where he would be forced to row. He was tired and thirsty and had dropped to the ground from exhaustion. He cried out, “God, help me!”

At that moment Jesus (the film never showed His face, but only His back) reached down to give him a drink. When the Roman soldier in charge saw this, he yelled at Jesus to leave the man alone and raised his whip. Jesus turned and looked at the soldier, who stood there immobilized in awe as he looked at Jesus’ face (which the camera did not show). He lowered his whip and turned away. The effect that the film wanted to convey is that an encounter with Jesus Christ would stun and perhaps even soften the hardest of men.

John begins his Gospel by stunning us with his description of Jesus Christ.

It is foundational to the Christian faith and crucial to your personal faith that you understand and embrace the truth that Jesus Christ is fully God. Bishop Moule once stated (source unknown), “A Savior not quite God is a bridge broken at the farther end.” John Mitchell put it (An Everlasting Love [Multnomah Press], pp. 13, 14), “If Jesus is not God, then we are sinners without a Savior…. If Jesus were only a man, then He died for His own sins. And we are still in our sins. We have no hope.” In order to reconcile sinful people to the holy God, Jesus must be God in human flesh. John skillfully presents this in the prologue (1:1-18) of his Gospel. Colin Kruse (John [IVP Academic], pp. 59-60) points out:

Zanjan: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

No mention if it being Jesus. He wasn't there - Adam was.

"just as a word reveals an unseen thought. "

The Word of God is NOT like the word of man. That's why we have problems with communication when we speak and read in the same mother tongue.
Each Letter in a Word of God has a creative power. Each time a Letter is revealed, something changes in the world and something new comes into being. That doesn't happen with the words of humans.

Cenababy: Jesus is the word. If we look at verses it is clear.
Word", "Discourse", or "Reason'' is a name or title of Jesus Christ, derived from the prologue to the Gospel of John (c 100) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God", as well as in the Book of Revelation (c 85), "And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name ...
Then, Colossians 1:16 gives the added detail that God created “all things” through Jesus Christ. The plain teaching of Scripture, therefore, is that Jesus is the Creator of the universe.

Zanjan: " Jesus is the word."

Only Christians believe that; it's because they think Jesus is God. Anyone who doesn't believe it hasn't been able to convince the Christian otherwise, no matter how much reason is presented. Yet they expect others to believe their position by nothing other than their own reason. THAT is just pure stubbornness.

Where there is no unity, there is no understanding. Reality is ONE and there is PROOF of reality.

God has sent His Divine Mediators to dispel the erroneous notions people have collected over time. The Voice of God speaks often - the Divine Mediators are the proof. If we are unified, then we all listen to the Voice of God.

If something is true, it's re-stated in ALL of God's scriptures - that's why He's so repetitive, not because, as people accuse, one religion is stealing from the other. For example, the final proof of the reality of Christ, as Jesus said, is the Promised One to come after Him - He will speak of Christ and Glorify Him.

Thus, the truth doesn't hang on what followers say or believe - it's what the Voice of God says; this Voice returns to convey to us the real meaning. Let's not put words in anyone's mouth, nor have a spoken cover and spin placed over the written.

Zanjan: According to the OT, and to every scripture following it to the present day, Adam was the first Manifestation of God in existence - THAT is where the *beginning* for all of US was - with the first Man in history Who knew God.

Since no creature on earth could have a true relationship with God prior to that Day, everything before that first Day is irrelevant. None of us can tell each other of God's mind. We can only share what we've seen God do and, convey to others what He wants us to do.

You know, if I learned something new about my husband's body, do you think that would stop me from loving him? What do you fear? If you learned something new about Jesus's body, would your faith in God be shattered? I think if that happened, then you've never loved Jesus.

Zanjan: AA: John 14:6

If it meant ..."God, Himself, descended into the flesh"... it would have said that. It didn't. Could not the term "flesh" be applied as a designation, meaning "substance"...of reality? We still use that figure of speech today - that is, when we flesh something out, we're looking for solutions - doesn't mean we're tearing out pieces of body flesh.

What does skin and meat do?? Nothing for the one who isn't wearing it. The Romans tore out bits of Jesus's flesh - did God spill out to smack them upside the head? When the physical body isn't present, how are you guided? God doesn't need to wear flesh. However, people need to hear to hear from God because they don't speak HIS language.

God solved this problem by creating the Son of Man - someone with a tongue we could recognize, with a voice we could directly hear. We don't need to see Him.....very few ever actually saw Jesus either.

What we know of God is that He is Love and Knowledge - not a thing to do with flesh.

You run in to problems by cherry picking sentences instead of cross -referencing them with other material in scriptures, both old and new. Say what you want, no Messenger of God has ever supported that..

Zanjan: Cena, I don't deny that Jesus was the Christ. I deny all descriptions of Him by those who weren't there. Yet not even the Jews or Apostles, who were there, dared to do that....they painted no portrait, and didn't describe His body at all - the very thing modern Christians seem to think was so critically important, they hang on it. They have nothing so shouldn't attempt that either.

What someone does and says is NOT a description, depicting them. You make up your own mind if you like what you see or not.

The physical portrayals of Jesus that followed were all fakery. The disingenuous can't be trusted. You wont find a Muslim doing that!

There are a few general references in the Hadiths about what Muhammad looked like but the Hadiths aren't authentic. Nevertheless, no Muslim has ever portrayed His appearance to this day.

Zanjan: Christians have put conditions on Christ - they've decided the proof of His reality is that He must die. Meaning, if He didn't die, He wasn't the Son of God. I can guess they'd put the same conditions on Him when He returned.

You'll have to kill Him all over again before you believe He can do anything for you.

Zanjan: The word "Gospel" means "good news"; the Bible ended its pages 2000 years ago so it's no longer "news".
The NT claims Christ would return - it wouldn't be "good" if He never did.

Do you judge the truth of Christ on Christianity's longevity? If so, Islam fits that bill too. How "good" would the visions in scripture be if they couldn't foresee something big enough to make it's indelible mark on the history of humanity? You can't wipe Islam away, like a smudge on your window. God didn't.

Who did God give the Holy Land to? Did He say He'd give it to the Christians? Do you not believe what history records? The proof of reality is in what happens *after* - there must be fruition.

Christ never denied Muhammad, Who glorified Him. So did the Bab and Baha'u'llah - how else do you think Jesus could have made that prophecy if He couldn't see the future? That's THREE.

Zanjan: The first believers in Christ were Jews - they didn't need to see Jesus's prophecies come true to believe in Him; neither did they need to see Him die. They were saved before any of that happened.

You know why? Well, because they embraced a new story. That doesn't mean they threw out the old one, they still use it today.

These two things - new prophecy and death - were not the themes the early Christians used to spread the Gospels. They spoke about a new Day and new life. Today's Christians don't do that; in fact, I've heard them in church, praying for: "a fresh outpouring". They've even made it into a song.

Apokalupto: Jesus said to preach the good news to all nations and all peoples under heaven, that has not been completed quite yet. Jesus continues to be the good news even to those in the first world who are always coming to Christ.

No Muhammad did not glory Jesus.

Were already told exactly what the word is. "-and the word was God" John 1 (islam denies that Jesus was God, and that Jesus is the son of God) 1John 2:22  Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

Lets see, so we already have a dude (muhammad) who denies the Father and the son relationship so he is anti christ, meaning he preached a different gospel meaning hes accursed.
Galatians 1:8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:9  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Quran flat out fabricates a story that Jesus never died on the cross for our sins.
It deny the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Corinthians 15:17  And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

"Christ never denied Muhammad, Who glorified Him." Jesus never mentioned Muhammad, the closest we get is he falls into a big long line of false prophets of antichrist and accursed folk preaching false gospels and false Christs denying everything we believe about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

John 8:24  I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

If you ever read the Quran and the New Testament you would know this, so either you are extremely ignorant of the Quran, or you're flat out lying.

Zanjan: "Jesus said to preach the good news to all nations and all peoples under heaven, that has not been completed quite yet. "

Where did He say that had to be "completed"? Please provide a quote and number of people on earth that had to be informed. At the end of the 1000 year reign of Christianity, there was an approximate estimate of 350 million people on earth - tops. Apparently, they've met their quota since and then some. We now have airplanes, TV and the Internet so, if everyone hasn't heard by now, what's wrong with you guys?

Incidentally, while the world population is increasing, fertility rates are decreasing. Elon Musk predicts a population collapse. There go your gains.

" He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son."

Muhammad confirmed that Christ was who He said He was; Muhammad INSISTED that Muslims accept that; otherwise, they couldn't be Muslims. Try reading the Quran sometime; it says Christ sacrificially died on the cross. Christians had some strange notions at the time, like the erroneous belief that Jesus was God incarnate - that is, God contained by a physical body. Muhammad explained how that was not possible.

"Jesus never mentioned Muhammad"

No Prophet ever utters the *birth name* of the Promised One to come after - it's a test. I've read all the scriptures known to man - none of them depart from that. However, they do apply titles, attributes, location of reverence, and specific prophecies surrounding their appearance.

We already know the Revelators must have their biological lineage tracing back to Abraham. Those are all clues. So, if anyone is lying, is has to be somebody who can't trace their lineage back to Abraham. Muhammad could.

Zanjan: Maybe asking Muslims what they believe wouldn't hurt. If you think it would hurt, you must not believe your Christ has much, if any, power to protect you from harm.
It's by no fault of mine that you've denied Muhammad, pretending Islam was never successful, that God doesn't hear their prayers and answer them.

So much for your alleged "curse". Yeah, you only wish.

By the way, you don't gain anything by repeating the same verses in every post. What that tells us is you can't come up with anything else to support your accusations.
