Zanjan: By the way, Elsa, if one isn't a documented member of a religion, they don't belong to it. Such a person will not put all its laws and ordinances into practice because they're not committed.

In my religion, to have one without the other is unacceptable before God. However, there are other religions that are pretty loose.

elsafer: Timothy4v1-5
In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

Enough said.

Nope, you don't get it Zanjan. You seem to love to be contrary no matter what is said.

You have assessed all Christians to be deficient. Apparently ALL previous religions have been overruled by the Baha'i. But you have a particular gripe about Christianity. You generalize too much.
God only knows why.
Since this topic is about which religion is true. We can all see the Baha'i religion is not, eh?
I think.

Blackshoes: James 1:26-27

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Colossians 2:8

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Zanjan: Suchso: "But you have a particular gripe about Christianity. You generalize too much."

Yes, I do. Unlike *the letters to the seven churches*, I generalize out of courtesy by not naming denominations, and definitely not naming defective individuals or leaders.. Make no mistake, I have no gripe about Christ's Revelation.

I make allowances for the magnanimous people in ANY religion; yet, they're the exception, not the rule. They must be where they are as a model for the rest who struggle.

Maybe you don't know this but in every religion, in every denomination, there's a small core of very active believers, sincere in serving their community and God. They make mistakes like anyone else but it's their dedication, their aim and sincerity I count as worth something. They keep the flame. The others are just fluff.

You think I pick out Christianity as a single target, but that's all you guys talk about here. Since you do, be prepared for a response. Should a Hindu, Muslim or Zoroastrian start posting, I'd address their religion the same, playing no favorites because each has had their day in the sun.

There was only one instance on Wire where I took matters into my own hands - that was directed to a racist, orthodox Jew, who wouldn't quit with his hateful postings after being warned a number of times. This was not a correction - I drove him off. Nobody needs that godless attitude.

"God only knows why."

You know why. Patience is important yet I cannot think that anyone who bears the Spirit of God would ever let justice slip through their fingers.

My opinions are not about you; whereas my observations were directed to your behaviour. If you choose not to show any courtesy, it's not because you didn't know. You've been informed.

chronology: The only other Being to come close to God in knowledge was Lucifer in his pre fallen state. Am sure ghost would find this puzzling. ghost would say 'well if Lucifer was so 'almost' all knowing how did he continue with a rebellion he knew would fail' . Actually the answer is found in Ezekiel , Lucifer went insane with his multiple and vast political and commercial activity in the pre adamic world.

Young people today have access to vast amounts of free knowledge provided by Google and others. They can flip open a Smart Cell Phone and find an answer to something in seconds that would have taken me years visiting different libraries and places.

But just think, if the Soviets had won the Cold War, the only knowledge young people today would have is the time of their shifts down in the Coal Mines and Cell Phones would have been reserved for the Party Elite. We all know how many people communism killed physically, but how many millions of peoples minds did it deform with denying them them freedom to learn?

Zanjan: Knowledge and information isn't the same thing.

Information is gathered into a pile like a bunch of leaves, then blown to the four winds and shredded into bits. Sometimes it brings awareness; more often than not, it's confusing and meaningless to the recipient.

Knowledge is learned, not memorized; it's intuited then digested - it can't be lent, forgotten, or taken from you.

chronology: Interesting Zan. Maybe it is like a T.S.Elliot Poem. You can hear the words and for many they shine a pool of enlightenment, so to speak on a scene he describes. But for the clever young folks at Harvard or Cambridge they would see the classical meaning in his poem.

Some Actors can also give real life to a book they are narrating, Joanna Parker does this with the 'Southern Vampire Mysteries' . She uses her skills as an actress to add drama to literature. Very good.

Zanjan: Well yes, we have different forms of media because we have many senses for conveyance; and, some senses are more fine tuned than others.

Literature is for those who appreciate the beauty of well-crafted words. Theater is for those who enjoy the story telling. Music is to sooth the soul and songs are for lifting the spirit. None translate well to another and none can replace the other.

Unlike the words of men, however brilliant and entertaining, the Word of God is Creative - it fashions and transforms throughout existence. Each letter of the Word has a meaning, each Word has many layers of meaning.

For that reason, knowledge has been compared to 'the waters'.

This is why each soul who reads them is moved differently and at different speeds. For some, the effect is instantaneous; for others, certain things can only be understood after certain lessons are learned. While it seems some aren't moved at all, that's only an illusion - the seed is planted and is viable for centuries.

Zanjan: I well remember the first time I saw the word "Baha'i"......the room shook around me and my heart leaped. I had no idea why and knew nothing about it but I was absolutely compelled to investigate.

That's how ready I was at that moment - there was a harmonic resonance; the sudden contact rang me like a bell.
