the coming and great day of the Lord Apokalupto: I am writing this using text to speech so pardon the lack of punctuation and scripture paraphrases. Malachi says that the Lord will send Elijah before the great and terrible day of the Lord. Luke says that baby John will be sent in the spirit and power of Elijah, but John says that he is not actually Elijah. the scripture makes clear that John is not Elijah but only in the spirit power of elijah. so Elijah himself is still yet to appear at some later point particularly as the scripture says before the great and terrible day of the Lord. at the time of jesus' earthly ministry that was not the great and terrible day of the Lord, that is a future event when Jesus returns. on the Mount of transfiguration Jesus showed Peter James and John a vision of himself transfigured and in his kingdom beside both Moses and Elijah. this was a vision, a picture of what is yet to come. Elijah will be there. Messiah king of Israel had come he's just and having salvation lowly and riding upon an ass and upon a colt the foal of an ass. this was preceded by John the Baptist who came in the spirit and power of Elijah at Jesus first coming. Elijah in person is still yet to come when the son of man, Jesus Christ will come with the clouds of heaven and he will have dominion and Glory set up his everlasting kingdom. (Edited by Apokalupto) (Post deleted by Apokalupto ) DontNeedChrist: Elijah hasn't arrived yet? Oh, because John was sent in "the spirit" of Elijah. Why was this not mentioned by Malachi? Why didn't Malachi write Elijah would come once in spirit and then again physically? Because Malachi wrote what he meant. Elijah HIMSELF will return. There is no evidence that Malachi meant anything else but exactly that. Malachi is the source of this prophecy, not the NT and not any other christian spin. John himself had the opportunity when asked if he was Elijah to announce he had come in "his spirit" but he didn't even do that. Why? Because there was no prophecy from the Tanach of Elijah coming in spirit to fulfill. He clearly denied being Elijah whether in spirit or otherwise. Perfect example of christians painting the bullseye around the arrow. (Post deleted by Apokalupto ) (Post deleted by Apokalupto ) (Post deleted by Apokalupto ) (Post deleted by Apokalupto ) Apokalupto: Malachi is not the source of this prophecy the New testament by the mouth of the angel is, in accordance with the pattern of the word of God. Apokalupto: the prophecy given in Malachi of the coming prophet Elijah himself before the great and terrible day of the Lord is not until a future time, as the actual day of the Lord has not yet arrived. DontNeedChrist: Precisely. The prophecy is completely unfulfilled because neither Elijah nor the true Jewish Messiah have arrived. Malachi is the source. He wrote the prophecy given to him by G-d. It remains unfulfilled to this day regardless of any claim from any other religion, faith or bible. Apokalupto: it is in perfect agreement with the pattern of scripture and the will of God. it takes the removal of the veil to be able to see God's word, no other faith religion or book can do this for you, not even Judaism. (Edited by Apokalupto) Apokalupto: John the Baptist in the spirit and power of Elijah bear witness of the Messiah Jesus, and Elijah at the terrible and great day of the Lord will also proceed Jesus the Messiah when he brings in his everlasting kingdom. DontNeedChrist: And now the insults commence. When scriptural facts, logic and common sense are presented, there's nothing left but references to blindness, ignorance or being spiritually bereft. That's all that's left in the arsenal. DontNeedChrist: "it takes the removal of the veil to be able to see God's word, no other faith religion or book can do this for you, not even Judaism." - AA aka XP The insult speaks for itself. You stray from the subject and make a personal assessment. It's truly pathetic but typical. Apokalupto: I think what you mean is that you are offended at the word of God. Many who are on the wrong side usually are. feel free to copy and paste this comment too, as I like to get the word out.
