Zanjan: There's no reference in the Bible to that constellation. I figure if you've seen one star, you've seen them all. The difference is in distance.

Angels are a different matter - the word has different meanings; what they are depends on how the word is being used in context. Most people have no idea about that because they're not well-studied in religion.

SplendorofYah: Job 38:31 31"Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades? Can you loosen Orion's belt?
Amos 5:8 8He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns midnight into dawn and darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land- the LORD is his name.
Job 9:8-9 8He alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea. 9He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations of the south.

Zanjan: They didn't have a word for "constellations" The correct translation is - "chambers" ( another word for rooms). If they were describing the brain/mind, that's the word that would be used.

Every culture around the world saw patterns in groups of stars; each culture named them differently, according to what was most familiar to them. The western world named the constellations after ancient Greek gods and godesses.

These are Greek legends. What would be their significance to religion? Seems one should look to the spiritual attributes of those named and their stories.

The Pleiades (7 sisters) were the seven daughters of the Titan, Atlas. They were said to be nymphs in the train of Artemis.

Whereas, the star cluster, Pleiades, is found in the constellation of Taurus - only 6 stars can be seen with the naked eye. The Bible mentions bulls in several places but no Taurus. We dont assume that every time a bull was mentioned in the Bible, it referred to a constellation.

The Western zodiac, which is 2,000 years old, has a bull named Taurus. So, that's newer than your citations.

The Bear constellation has an asterism of 7 main stars called the Big Dipper, or plough, wagon etc.

Note that the number 7 is used quite often in the Bible - the oldest menorah had 7 lamps, then there are the 7 heavens. Throughout the Bible, the symbol of "Light" hasn't changed - it still means 'understanding'. The symbol for knolwedge is "water".

God said that in everything there is a sign of Him, so there will be signs in the earth and in the heavens.

God gives His own names to the stars (Psalm 147:4)

In my religious scriptures the term "Maids of Heaven" is used and it doesn't mean physical stars because stars don't cry or rush out of their chambers.

Zanjan: Maybe it would be helpful if I used some descriptions from Baha’i scriptures as to the different meanings of angels:

1. In relation to creation – angels are pure souls, which reflect the attributes of God. This term refers to the person’s spiritual condition and inmost reality of being. They’re true and saintly believers in God, often represented with halos because they radiate those attributes.

2. In relation to God – Angels are the Prophets of God and His Messengers. Traditionally, they were represented with “wings” in visions and in art works. However, those wings also symbolized the modes of revelation and the proofs which God sent with them.

Usages of term:

1. Can refer to the pervading influence of the Will of God. For example, the attributes of God.

2. Can refer to the laws sent down by God. These are the instruments for the protection of the world and source of life and death. Example: To believers the laws are the “angel of life”; to the ungodly, they’re the “angel of death”. When they protect the servants of God from misfortune they’re called Guardian angels.

On that last note, society applies the term “guardian” angels to invisible, living souls who protect us from danger or rescue us from disaster. They think not everybody has one.

Splendor of Yah, only you know which of the above fits your perspective, if at all.

Zanjan: The ancients, when building, copied from shapes and dynamics they saw in nature. They recognized both the outward and inner significance, seeing that each created thing has a corresponding counterpart. Man always knew there's a spirit (higher) and a physical (lower) expression of the same reality.

For example, the pyramid form comes from trees, mountains and the best well-built fire. They knew the conical shapes were the best for the distribution of heat, energy and air flow. The triangle is the strongest, most stable shape in nature.

They were aware of the order of life and the flow of energy - that the lower life forms (closest to the earth) consumed the most energy from the sun; the higher the form, the more the heat loss (closest to the sun). From plants to animals and finally to birds. Today, we call that the trophic pyramid.

The religious knolwedge of the ancient Egyptians were incorporated into their monuments as a message. . They didnt have a name for the hierarchy of needs, they just knew that all things must move, that as energy is expended, it reaches a point where it is depleted - that is at the apex of the pyramid. This is the turning point where spiritual energy is restored to full power with the re- incarnation of God.

They saw signs in the heavens, in the movements of the stars, that corresponded with their own times. The "sky people" were the Holy Ones of heaven, in the Kingdom of God, Who had given them their civilization and would return in due time; the pyramids were a calendar, just as the placement of the stars in the night sky are a sign of the seasons.

Zanjan: The three main pyramids on the Giza plateau are aligned with the three main stars in Orion's Belt, as they were positioned 10,000 years ago. (Orion is the Hunter). The base of the pyramids point to the 4 directions.

As scientifically noted, "Orion's seven brightest stars form a distinctive hourglass-shaped asterism, or pattern, in the night sky. Four stars—Rigel, Betelgeuse, Bellatrix and Saiph—form a large roughly rectangular shape, in the centre of which lie the three stars of Orion's Belt—Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka.

While the Greek civilization came later, they acknowledged the same dynamics, accorded to the two dimensions of existence. The ancient Persians had their 4 Royal stars, each in a different constellation.

All religions in history have related the significance of their founding to a celestial event - that is, a critical position of the physical stars in the night sky always had a counterpart in dramatic spiritual changes for mankind.
