It takes time for them to learn because they've just come out of a wicked, wicked environment with plenty of scars. When they put the Founder of that religion first and foremost, they gradually drop the old baggage and become healed. Many were born again because they let the power of God work through the Revelator - in this case, the Christ. The turning point in the fortunes of any past religion was when the clergy put themselves first. They led the rest over the cliff. The New Testament illustrates this is what happened in Judaism....both at its beginning and several times more. It was intended to be a lesson. God has put an end to that. Strange how SO MANY people don't know that; but, what can you expect from those who don't care to discuss religion? There are so many different denominations because there were too many people who hadn't understood the meaning of unity; primarily, it was the clergy who put themselves first. THEY began their political campaigns to get their own followers. Nothing like dissatisfaction to woo them in. As Jesus said, "A house divided cannot stand". This is what people have done TO religion; they know it but can't undo it even if they wanted. They tried many times and always failed. Once a religion has passed its zenith, it's geared to decay and disintegrate, just like physical bodies do. Signs of the times. Yet its bones remain for eons. Denominations were made in an effort to refute the wrong teachings of the Church. There are hundreds of variations of the Trinity. It is highly illogical. Nevertheless, we have people claiming it is true. The Bible doesn't even teach it. God is inconceivable and unknowable - He's sanctified above the kin of men; yet ,with this detestable term, they bring His exalted sovereignty and absolute glory down to the human level, claiming ownership. How subtle the descent into confusion! Like the painting that has no conscious relationship with its Creator, and the written letter that doesn't know it's in a book, we humans can't relate to God. We don't know anything about the World of God because He's pre-existant. How can that be "personal"?? Were it not for the Revelators, we wouldn't know a thing about His ways....only the natural world. Without Them, we'd all be atheists. However, with Them, we can relate to God's Kingdom - that is, the worlds of knowledge over which God presides. Since we're entirely dependent on what these Mediators convey, the relationship we have with the supernatural is via Them as our Teachers, Who assist us to recognize God's attributes and draw us ever nearer to His Beauty.
