Bava Metzia 59b and rabbinic sages (Page 3)

Apokalupto
Apokalupto: "Its THE RABBIS and not G-d who determine Jewish Law. The rabbis who are authorized to interpret G-d’s Torah, even over the objections of the Divine author Himself. It matters little what G-d had in mind."

How is jacob wrestling with God have to do with the above?

Amore, as Gir has pointed out, I don't think its the same because God granted Jacobs wish. If on the other hand you actually believe that Jacob could overpower God in a brawl, then you have a bigger issue, namely, "who is your god?"

"DNC, I don't have an interpretation of this tractate I merely saw what you personally said about it and wanted to chime in as to why."

------

I'm not asking for your interpretation! I couldn't care less about your interpreation. I'm asking you what it's about. You don't know. Go read it and educate yourself so the discussion is on a level playing field. It's actually a beautiful story with many life lessons to ponder but you miss out because you're obsessed with A COMMENTARY that collides with christianity.

Go read it!

amoregrowers: Rabbinical Authority to inturprit the law supersedes miracles even if from G-d. Much like ,scriptural authority of the church superseded any signs and wonders.. its a balancing system to keep things reeled in from being overly charismatic or "miracles " based, and keeps people grounded in reason and understanding.

Its very simple and not literal.

One Rabbi uses miracles to validate his view I mean who could argue G-d performing a miracle through Rabbi...
One Rabbi used scripture to validate who could Argue the authorship of the Torah..

In the end Scripture and Majority overrule signs and wonders.

AA, BTW, in your screenshot of my "interpretation" which isn't even mine, it's someone elses that I paraphrased. You circle "What's the story about?" Then you completely skip the paragraph of the brief description of the story and then circle THE COMMENTARY beneath which is NOT what the story is about.

Proof ---> anonymous attributes's Picture

Get it right would you please???

UPDATE:
THE SCREENSHOT WAS TAKEN DOWN. MAYBE IT WAS TOO INCRIMINATING. SO MUCH FOR HONESTY.

Apokalupto: In truth its both. Are you refusing to have a conversation as to why you believe what you believe? It's not an obsession, it's the entire latter half of butlers thread topic.

"BTW, in your screenshot of my "interpretation" which isn't even mine, it's someone elses that I paraphrased."

Let me get this straight, are you saying this this quote is not yours but someone elses that you used??? ---> "In this astounding story, the rabbis, in dramatic fashion make very clear that it is THE RABBIS and not G-d who determine Jewish Law. To phrase it somewhat differently, it is the rabbis who are authorized to interpret G-d’s Torah, even over the objections of the Divine author Himself. It matters little what G-d had in mind. It sounds heretical, but such is the nature of Torah and the will of G-d."

If so, why did you post someone else's interpretation if you didn't believe in it? Do you even believe in it? Obviously you believe it, right?

Apokalupto: Here is what the story is about

In this astounding story, the rabbis, in dramatic fashion make very clear that it is THE RABBIS and not G-d who determine Jewish Law. To phrase it somewhat differently, it is the rabbis who are authorized to interpret G-d’s Torah, even over the objections of the Divine author Himself. It matters little what G-d had in mind. It sounds heretical, but such is the nature of Torah and the will of G-d.

Care to discuss this mutual understanding of this or not? Why do you believe in this rubbish?

Apokalupto: I didn't lie. And i believe the interpretation you gave is correct and idolatrous and that is my discussion as butler included it in his thread. Don't insult me and lie about me. You should consider God as the highest authority, not man, the Torah would tell you that, if you believed it. That's probably why you feel the need to always resort to crude and hateful tactics and are unable to be reasoned with because you have allowed man to usurp your own creator, and so your philosophies come from the heart of man. "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" - Jesus.
