REFUTING Genesis 22:18 Hebrew "Seed" Vs. "Descendants" or "Offspring"

This thread is a response to Xrusaoros Pegasos’s thread called “Genesis 22:18 Hebrew "Seed" vs. "Descendants" or "Offspring”

Topic: Religion

Xrusaoros Pegasos, otherwise known as Anonymous Attributes, immediately deletes my responses to his forum posts because he seems to have an aversion to any Jewish rebuttals. This subject specifically pertains to Hebrew in the Hebrew Scriptures so it warrants a response from the Hebrew and Jewish perspective. This thread has been established to prevent the repeated censorship that constantly occurs on his threads.

He along with anyone else is welcome to respond to this thread as long as it’s kept on topic and stays civil.

The guy he's promoting in the video is Steven L. Anderson. A Baptist pastor in Tempe, AZ. He fancies himself some sort of Hebrew expert by twisting and maligning the Hebrew word for "seed" used in Beresheis (Genesis) which is “ZERA” to mean jesus christ.

He calls out Genesis 22:17-18:
“I will bestow My blessing upon you and make your descendants (ZERA) as numerous as the stars of heaven and the sands on the seashore; and your descendants shall seize the gates of their foes.

All the nations of the earth shall bless themselves by your descendants, because you have obeyed My command.”

DontNeedChrist:

The pastor misquotes the passage by saying at the 1:16 mark that the word “seed” is singular and that seed is how all nations of the earth WILL BE BLESSED by jesus christ. The verse actually says THE EARTH SHALL BLESS THEMSELVES BY HIS DESCENDANTS. Not “be blessed” by his descendants. When did jesus have descendants?

This pastor claims the Hebrew word ZERA is singular here when obviously it’s referring to all of Abraham’s descendants that will be as numerous as stars in the sky and sand on the shore. How is this singular?

He attempts to show how the word zera is spelled differently when plural but it’s unnecessary because the passage says YOUR SEED which can be either singular or plural already IN THAT CONTEXT. He is wrong here due to ignorance of basic Hebrew.

Then he goes on to examine terrible ENGLISH translations that contradict each other which is a testament to how unreliable ANY translation is. In addition to all this, the promise to Abraham is not only would he have many descendants but that they will inherit Canaan (Israel). Clearly that never happened with jesus.

We can see in history that the Jewish people have in fact been a blessing to the world with their achievements in politics, science, medicine, education and by promoting basic and detailed morals via the Torah.

So what does "zera" REALLY mean?

Genesis 1:11 - Part of a plant's fruit from which a new plant will grow

Genesis 8:22 - The sowing season

Genesis 47:24 - Field crops and grain

Genesis 7:3 - Progeny/Offspring

Leviticus 15:32 - Semen

To summarize, this christian pastor has an obvious jesus agenda and has no qualms about interjecting jesus into a narrative where he never existed.

ZERA DOES NOT MEAN jesus christ.

BTW, this guy Steven L. Anderson is a real piece of work.

He called for the death of Barak Obama:

He's anti gay:

He's been banned by 28 EU countries.

He praised the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando for leaving "50 less pedophiles in this world."

"The Jews and Their Lies"

"Israel Belongs to G-d Not the Jews"

AND MY TWO FAVORITE STEVEN L. ANDERSON videos of all:

Even fellow christians call him a false prophet

Such a great source for a Hebrew lesson. How sad.

Jaguar Essence: This type of individuals who are using G-d to hide and justify their hate, show's how poisonous they're.

Thank you for sharing facts and pointing out at the lies created by lack of knowledge of a religions and religious who are usurpating like thieves the spiritual inheritance of Jews, by twisting the interpretations and understanding of our Judaic sources of knowledge.

Nicely done, DNC.

Fractured fairy tale, this thread is not about Israeli politics. It's about a misguided Baptist pastor destroying a Torah passage to make it about jesus. Tell me why I wouldn't have cause to delete your posts.

That's it, the topic is about the Baptist preacher and his twisted views of Abraham's descendants, not foreign policy. Comment on that topic or post your own thread.

Jaguar Essence: Of course you don't FFt, the Hebrew Bible is the spiritual inheritance of Jews, and people like you have twisted and manipulated the meaning, knowledge, interpretation, and understanding to validate and reassure your religion like thieves.

Claiming lies and taking ownership of something that doesn't belong to you, the NT is a Christian source of knowledge totally inconsequential to Jews spiritual inheritance and source of knowledge, which is the Torah/Tanakh.

You're NOT a Jew, no Jew is demanding non-Jews to believe in our spiritual inheritance, it's those who have taken our spiritual inheritance and twisted to fit their needs to ne validated and reassured.

Jaguar Essence: FFT, don't flip this against us, you said this, "Why would expect any one to believe the Tanach is the word of god any way."
I just told you no Jew is asking you nor forcing to accept our spiritual inheritance.

Non-Jews are worthy of their own spiritual inheritance. You don't see this topic Jews denouncing the NT, do you? Or Jews politicizing Judaism against Christianity as you're politicizing Christianity against Judaism, do you?

You question why should anyone believe the Tanakh is G-d's words, and I told you you're not a Jew to believe it, nor Jews are demanding you to accept it.
You didn't like my answer because you were expecting me to defend the Tanakh, to validate and reassure my religious conviction, and I didn't. I simply said you are not one of us to even concerned yourself with the validity of the Tanakh's worth, nor we need your validation to reassure us, and to suit your discontent, you're playing the victim as if you're being marginalize.

You're NOT being marginalize, you're welcome to seek knowledge and understanding our spiritual inheritance just as Jews do. BUT, non-Jews don't get to tell us what to interpret in our own spiritual inheritance. As well, Jews are NOT responsible to validate and reassure non-Jews' agenda to fit their dogma in our spiritual inheritance. You're responsible and accountable to validate and reassure YOUR own religious dogma's sacred text, which is the NT.

To each their own...
