At the last supper, Jesus foretold that Judas would betray him

and then they sang a hymn

and they went out to the foot of mount of olives to a place called Gethsemane.-Matthew 26:21-36

Gethsemane - Oil-vat/Oil-press
Christ - Anointed (With oil)
Tribulation (θλίψις) – Pressure.

θλίψις is the word being translated as tribulation, and in various contexts, affliction, anguish, persecution, trouble, and burden etc.

The root of θλίψις (Tribulation) is θλίβω (Strong's)

θλίβω:
1. to compress.
2. to squeeze.
3. to press hard.
4. (passively) to be hard pressed.
5. to pinch.
6. (figuratively) to press in against, to crush (in a crowd).

Gethsemane is the place where Jesus was ---hard-pressed--- in great anguish because of what he was about to endure for the world on the cross for our sakes. ‘his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground’- (Luke 22:44)

This is the place where Judas betrayed the Lord Jesus.

Matthew 26:47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

Matthew 26:48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.

Matthew 26:49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

Matthew 26:50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

Matthew 26:51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.

Jesus never permitted them to use violence.

Matthew 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

Matthew 26:53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

*
Matthew 26:54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
*

Matthew 26:55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

Matthew 26:56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

But his congregation (ἐκκλησία/Ekklesia) which was put into English as “church” this congregation is the body of Christ. –(Colossians 1:18)

Jesus Christ always new that his persecutions, anguish, tribulations and death on the cross and resurrection was to be fulfilled according to the scriptures.

And if we are part of his body we should not think it strange to go through such like pressures and persecutions and tribulations as he did, starting from the beginning of his ministry up until the his death on the cross and subsequent resurrection–(Colossians 1:24)

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.- John 16:33
