Does aliens exists?? (Page 2) Outbackjack: True Story. I grew up in a rural area and my neighbour was on a bus to a remote mine site with 20 odd people who he worked with and they reckon they seen a cigar shaped object circle the bus a few times and take off. Now most of these people were devout christians living an ordinary life and in no way believing this could happen. My neighbour was one of the most honest god fearing people you met.It was the talk of the town for years.I cant see 20 people being wrong. ravnight: Whether to believe that there are aliens or not has always been a mystery. The documentaries shown about the encounter with alien beings might be true but they still require pure evidence to cover it up. I personally believe that the government is hiding something, but that doesn't mean that there might be aliens, its just that they don't want to let us know about their secret operations. Outbackjack: What if they had the technology in many years to put out a massive hologram of christ around the world and pretend it was the second coming ,Vinnie. sulafatlyra: yes aliens are around us if not next to us in the forms of parallel universes, all be it that in our galexy the probability is yes. veronica: the vastness of interstellar travel are so great that the possibility of bumping in to one is enormous x2006ozw: Going back to what you said about the proper conditions for aliens to exist Vince, you can not make the assumption that other possess the same advanced conditions as humans. Look at certain archaebacteria for example which can stand temperature of up to 121 degrees centigrade, or pH of 0. We did not discover these organisms until the last few decades, and previously we believed that creatures such as this could not exist. In other words, look at the diversity on our one ecosystem in the entire universe and how little we actually know about it. How are you so quick to assume what it is that aliens require to exist? x2006ozw: My point was not that there are bacteria out there... Did you read the full post? I said that we don't even know the diversity of our own planet. Every year people are amazed about finding new creatures that they didn't think could exist, and like I say, this is on our own planet. A being does not need a human brain to function intelligibly; a brain is simply a grid for transmission of particles. Think outside the box. x2006ozw: Yeah, I did. I'm contesting the point you made precisely in your post. I'm not sure if what I am saying is transmitting clearly or not, but I will say it quite plainly: A human brain is not the only medium for intelligence. Intelligence is only the capacity to consciously transmit info. We do not know what creates consciousness (not as opposed to consciousness vs. unconsciousness, but as self aware intelligence) exactly, therefore we do not know if it can be replicated, if it can assume different media or what causes it (this was the purpose of my raising the fact that we do not know our own world thoroughly enough). Now by using standard logic or proof technique, it is easily calculable (qualitatively of course) that it is not possible to rule out the idea of aliens (or any sort of conscious being besides human for that matter). Sil3ntA$sassin: well in my opinion there has to be atleast some form of life somewhere "out there". At least some kind of worm or microscopic thing u know?.. lol. But a question i have is, why is always the saucer or the dish and that?. Why not a square?, ok bad metaphor but you catch my drift. I mean if someone came to abduct me they could at least do it in style by coming in something that doesn't look like a diner plate. x2006ozw: You seem quite arrogant Vince, for accusing me of not "understanding" your claim. You have not provided an ounce of proof for your theory that the human brain is the only medium for intelligence and/or consciousness, yet you accuse me of lack of sight to envision your idea? Vince, there has not been a single premise, induction, counter-example or any other method to prove your theory in your posts. You simply create a conclusion that the human brain is the only medium for consciousness. You insult me by criticizing my hesitancy to accept your claim while you lack sufficient evidence to support any of it! Very arrogant Vince. I have not disregarded your claim in my posts, I have simply stated that it is not logical to rule out the idea of aliens existing. I have provided premises for this and a valid argument consequently, and thus I can accept you disagreeing with me, but insulting me? Such a scientist as you are Vince, surely you must know what a null hypothesis is, for that is the basis for all that is encompassed by science. But you have overlooked the null hypothesis, rather you establish your own hypothesis with no disproved counter hypothesis! Perhaps it is possible that all birds do not fly, all fish do not swim and all humans do not walk! Outbackjack: Totally disagree Vince that the human brain could be the only vehicle for intelligent life. | Science Chat Room 3 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
