Outbackjack: One of the things that Conspiracy Theorists have pointed out is that the original tapes of the moon landing were erased. NASA claimed that they had a shortage of tapes in the 60s and 70s and reused tapes. So. According to Saturdays West Australian newspaper there were copies!!!!! Apparently they had been in storage at Curtin University in Perth Australia. There was an interview with these professors who dug them out. Now in my opinion with Utube and other forms of internet media it would have been easy to put them online and put this whole sorry tale to bed,one way or another. But no. Actually, they do not need to be that large; but yes, to answer your question, they are quite large. The principle of a "Retro-Reflector", similar to that on a bicycle, is designed of multiple prism shaped reflective surfaces (like mirrors), which are strategically angeled to refract lightwaves directly, 180 degrees to the original source; thus losing far less light in the process, and thus requiring smaller laser and reflector sizes; although the lasers used are in fact more modern than were available in the world....given that laser development was in fact in existence in the world at that time, seems pretty obvious that mankind; only 70 years after learning powered flight and standing on the Moon, would be able to produce a laser capable of such a task....and with this oportunity to set up a devise that could help calculate the distance of the Moon, and pattern of orbit, down to within a millimetre of accuracy, think of the scientific studies that could come....the ability to study the effect of gravity on the Earth and the Moon, as well as the relation between the two celestial bodies. ...and to answer your question, yes, I do know something about physics and astronomy....although no, I do not claim to be a physicist like the two idiots that founded this rediculuous conspiracy.
